Hi! I've never posted here... I hope this is how it goes 🤣 I have 9 month old twin boys who love to eat. They eat table food, but have NO INTEREST in feeding themselves, unless it's like a big wafer. SOMETIMES they'll manage a few puffs. Otherwise they want to be spoon fed and/or pull my hand to their face with finger foods. When did your little one want to bring food to their mouth?

My daughter did it almost from the beginning. She would rip the spoon out of my hand, sending the food in all directions and try to feed herself. Then get mad when the spoon was empty.
My son on the other hand will be 4 in a few weeks and still has meals where he refuses to eat himself.

Not till 10-12m with both my boys

With finger foods my little one started around 9-10 months. Now we’re at 16 months and he’s starting with a spoon but still working on getting down without dropping food.

My son did from the start and let him feed himself.
Try feed them first so their not "starving" then give them the spoon or finger food halfway through fir them to try themselves, also give them spoons of their own while you feed them with a spoon...
It does make a mess my 2 year old still makes a mess sometimes but its just the learning process xx

We did baby led weaning, so she fed herself from day one (6 months and a few days)

I think you just need to let them do it. Stop feeding them and they’ll start to do it. If they are hungry and want food then they’ll do it themselves lol. Or you just let them sit for 30 min if they don’t touch it or throw it then get them down. They’ll only learn to start doing it themselves when that is the only option.

My daughter also wanted to eat on her own pretty much from the start at 6 months. She has been independent with everything though, now at 17 months shes starting to use a spoon and fork but still prefers to use her hands. I think its a personality thing rather than a milestone. Your kids might want you to feed them because they see it as bonding. Out of curiosity are they breastfed or formula? My daughter is breastfed and I feel like because of that she likes the independence of eating by herself. I could be wrong but that could be a theory. 🤷♀️
Regardless if you want them to eat independently, I think have them eat when youre eating and show by example of how you eat your food and they should try to copy. Our daughter always eats alongside of us, she has her own plate and we dont really interrupt her we just all focus on our own plates, we will talk to each other and her but I dont really touch her food unless im giving her more of something.
My daughter started preschool 2 weeks ago. When I picked her up one day last week her key worker said she hadn’t ate her lunch and asked how her eating was at home. Today when I picked her up she said she hadn’t ate her lunch again and said if she continues to not eat she’ll have to just do mornings. My issue is she went on to say she’s SO small so she can’t go without eating (with such an attitude) and just basically started making digs about her. I looked in her lunch box once we’d left and she’d eaten a cheese sandwich, sausage roll, babybel, yoghurt, strawberries and blueberries. All she had left was crisps and a belvita bar. They also get 2 snacks from preschool so I feel like that’s more than enough for a 2 year old. I don’t understand why she would say she’d eaten nothing and make such a big deal when she ate majority of it. She then carried on making digs about her saying she’s stubborn (what 2 year old isn’t) and they have to tell her no a lot. I say making digs again because she wasn’t just telling me she had an attitude and was basically just complaining about her. It’s left a really bad taste in my mouth and when I asked my toddler if she had a good day she said no (she always comes out happy saying she’s had a good day) and when I asked her why she said my teacher

I'll try to make it all simple.
I have 3 (adult) brothers who have learning difficulties. Limited friends, live alone.
My dad recently got remarried.
1 of my brothers really dislikes my dad's partner - too much has happened to write here, but basically he sees her as controlling and a bully.
Organising Christmas last year was a nightmare as my dad's partner refused to be in the same room as my brother. Said she never wanted to see him again.
The rest of the family thought this was a complete overreaction (given my brother has never said/done anything nasty/malicious.) They were talking about a Christmas meal, but excluding my brother. So we said NO, we are not leaving him alone on christmas day and the rest of the family wanted him there. We basically said; Christmas is at ours, but we are not having anyone excluded, so you either come together or not at all.
Probably not the best way to handle it but I was so pissed off.
My dad and his partner booked a cottage away for 2 weeks, to see her daughter who lives 3 hrs away by car. So choosing not to spend any of Christmas with us at all.
So my brothers came down to ours for Christmas (because my daf and his partner weren't even trying to resolve the issue)- it was lovely.
I alternate Christmas day with my partner- one year with my family, the next with his etc. So this year it's his turn.
Usually my dad would spend Christmas day with my brothers. But he has told me they have booked the cottage again and seeing her daughter again.
This means my brothers will be alone on Christmas day.
They don't drive and they don't live very near each other. They don't have jobs and are some of the kindest people I've ever met.
They don't deserve to be excluded. They don't cook either.
Do you think what my dad and his partner have done sounds fair?

Moms!!! How did yall prevent yalls kids from putting their hands in their mouth? My 5 month old son has a bad habit of shoving his hands down his throat every chance he gets and he’s getting sick off of it. We’ve tried gloves but he puts those in his mouth too

Which one from Tesco is good? Is this ok? But it says no fat and I thought we have to give full fat one for baby? I want one with no added sugar too.
