Braxton hicks

I haven’t experienced ANYYY painful braxton hicks during my pregnancy. absolutely 0! it’s just been “oh that’s solid” and maybe just a bit harder to breathe. no pain or even discomfort, AT ALL!

I am kind of annoyed by this. because yes, it’s nice. but I have never had a baby before. I feel like because I’ve experienced NO pain, it’ll make labour feel even worse. if that makes sense? obviously even if you’ve had painful braxton hicks, labour is still painful. but it probably isn’t AS bad as you’ve experienced practice ones..you know?? so you know at least a little percent of what you’ll be feeling/dealing with.

I’m just scared I’m COMPLETELY UNPREPARED for the pain. does anyone else feel the same?

I’m in pain as I’m reading this, it’s so uncomfortable and hard stops few seconds when I lay down and starts again and comes with breathlessness

I would try to reframe your mind away from the pain. Hypobirthing is good for that or just doing breathing. Ive had loads of braxton hicks and i don't believe they have comparison to the real ones. However your body is made for this ❤️ xx

I've never knowingly felt Braxton hicks in either of my pregnancies, with my October baby I actually thought I had Braxton hicks at first as I was 37 weeks and didn't think they'd be coming that early into term.

I'm not the best judge of labour as both my labours progressed very quickly so it was very intense and painful very quickly, it was a lot.

However, I don't think anything can prepare you for labour really, and I am a complete wimp but despite the pain I just managed to give birth with only gas and air. Granted this wasn't entirely welcomed but I had no choice.

I would just work on a positive mindset for now, everyone's different with pain but at the end of the day you're birthing a baby - it's going to hurt, but it's only each contraction, it's a minute or so at a time then you get a break. I find a coping mechanism for me is to expect the worst 🤷 can prepare for that and then be pleasantly surprised if it's better.

Braxton hicks feel absolutely nothing like labour contractions, you're not missing anything in terms of preparation.

I'd try to reframe how you feel about labour and your perspective on pain.
Labour pains are expected, they're purposeful, it hurts yes but they're short and frequent which is unlike pain that we often experience. There is honestly no comparison 😊

I wouldn't worry too much about that, braxton hicks aren't painful. In my first pregnancy I didn't have any so when labour started through night I told myself it was probably braxton hicks but instinctively got up and ran a bath, dealt with it for a couple of hours at home, it was only when my mother in law came round and I was on the floor clinging onto the sofa that she said "right, no way that's braxton hicks, we're going to hospital". I was the most terrified person, I was sure i couldn't handle the pain of birth but when I got to hospital my waters broke and all of a sudden I was 10cm so no time for pain relief and I coped with it all just fine. You'll be okay! We're stronger than we think us women 💪 x

I thought I was having Braxton Hicks here and there but they were contractions that keep stop starting. I’m 37 weeks and they have got more and more sharp.

Maybe you just haven’t noticed because it’s not always painful? X

Braxton Hicks shouldn't necessarily be painful. I actually enjoyed the sensation in my last pregnancy 😅

I think your theory about painful Braxton Hicks is wrong. You've probably experienced period pain and most people compare early labour to that. NOTHING prepares you for labour and what will happen during it, it's incomparable to anything. And labour has stages, early labour is incomparable to active labour which is incomparable to transition which is incomparable to pushing 😅

2 months postpartum. Is it normal to feel low for no reason at all?

Ive had a C section & have a great support system. My parents and husband ensure i get enough rest by taking care of the baby. Baby is healthy and im healthy too. Yet i find myself sometimes reliving my entire pregnancy journey in my mind or start feeling low for absolute no reason at all. Is it the hormones or what is exactly happening with me?

Feeling pressured about having an epidural

I have Cystic Fibrosis and I am 27+5. My midwife requested an appointment with the anaesthetic doctor so I’ve been to that today and I feel like she’s forcing me to have the epidural when I really don’t want it. She says it’ll help with my lung capacity so she wants me to have the epidural straight away as soon as I’m in labour. However, my CF team have said I am and my lungs are healthy enough to give birth as a normal woman, so I can have gas and air etc. the anaesthetic doctor didn’t ask me what my lung function was or nothing. I’ve been so healthy the past 6 years so I really don’t think I need the epidural. I’m a bit of a push over so I feel like I will end up having the epidural even though I don’t want it. How do I get around this? It’s upset me and annoyed me at the same time cause she’s made me think I’m not healthy enough to give birth without the epidural
