Advice for 5yr old

Hello, my 5yr old (F) has always had a spicier attitude, she’s spunky, fun, loud, creative, has the best laugh and super sassy. Lately her attitude SUCKS! She complains over EVERRRYYYTTTHHHINNNG. If we ask her to do something she tells me and my husband “no” she’ll fight us on everything argues over everything with us and her older sister, she hits her older sister and will sometimes scream at her. The attitude is ridiculous. She screams and kicks and cries. It’s very over the top. I’ve tried the time outs, doesn’t work, I’ve tried “good charts” doesn’t work. I’ve given warnings idk I feel like I’ve done almost everything and nothing is helping. Today, after a big blow up, I took away everything in her room besides her dresser and bed and books. I’m looking to get advice on how to handle it and redirect the behavior? Idk help🫣

Honestly, I feel for you 😭❤️ Five is such a funny age because they can have so much personality but still really struggle with big emotions and boundaries.
I’d probably focus less on punishments and more on being really consistent with the behaviour you won’t accept. If she hits her sister, calmly separate them and deal with that behaviour straight away. For the arguing and “no” to everything, sometimes keeping your response short and not getting pulled into the back-and-forth can help.
I’d also look at whether anything has changed recently — school, friendships, sleep, routine, family changes etc. Sometimes a big change in behaviour is their way of showing that something is going on when they don’t know how to explain it.
And I completely understand reaching the point where you feel like you’ve tried everything. 😭 You’re not a bad mum for struggling with it. ❤️

Girl, as a Montessori guide and a mom, I promise you, that little girl is not giving you a hard time just for fun… although she might be enjoying a few moments of it. 😂❤️
At five, she's discovering her independence, but her emotional regulation is still under construction. Observe what triggers her, offer choices, and give her meaningful responsibilities. Sometimes children need a little control over their world.
And please give that baby her stuff back! 😂 Her room is her environment, not a crime scene.
Set firm boundaries, especially with hitting, but don't try to discipline the personality out of her.
We don't want to raise a child who never says no. We want to raise one who knows WHEN and HOW to say it. ❤️

I notice my 5yr old gets an attitude when she has things with sugar in it, so i limit her sugar intake. And if she had a sugar snack, i call attention to her behavior so she knows why i don't give her sugar often, and she controls herself cause she doesn't want sugar snacks taken away forever.

When she's tired or bored or when I'm pmsing, i notice she's much more attitudey and so i redirect her (hang out and watch a movie (if tired) art or a family board game (if bored), some chamomile tea if she's picking up my pms since she's very sensitive.

My oldest loved games, and my middle one loved sweets so i used those as things to take away when they were fighting with each other or not doing weekday they were supposed to do, and it worked when time outs had stopped working.

When my middle one hit my oldest, i said how would you like it if she did that to you, don't hit my kid, and she stopped lol but maybe that doesn't work with all kids, but she was very empathetic.

Ideas with how to keep my baby on her back for nappy changes

Hey all!

My girl is nearly 7 months and for little while she has been a nightmare to change her nappies and clothes 🫣😂
All she wants to do is roll onto her front and try crawl off the mat!

I used to be able to distract her by singing and dancing - but now I can’t find anything to distract her and I’m chasing her around her changing mat 😂 and trying to change her backwards lol

I know it’s normal for most babies to go through these stages, just wondered if anyone has found anything that has helped.?

👜✨ Show Me Your Changing Bags! ✨🍼

What changing bags is everyone using for their little ones? Especially those formula feeding!

I’ve got the one that came with his travel system, but I’m fancying a new one — looking for something stylish but practical! I’d love to see what everyone else is using! 🤍

4-month-old waking every hour at night – how can I help her sleep longer?

My baby is 4 months old, and for the past few weeks she has been waking almost every hour at night. She wants to breastfeed and then goes straight back to sleep.

During the day, she usually only naps for around 30 minutes. If I rock her back to sleep, sometimes she will continue sleeping, but other times she just stays awake.

What am I doing wrong? How can I change this, if it’s even possible? I’m exhausted. 😭

Baby doesn’t like being put down

My 8 wk baby always wants to be held. Since he was born he doesn’t like going down in his crib at all, and even though we’ve tried everything ( I mean everything! The clothes wth my scent on them, holding him for 20 mins into a deep sleep then putting him down, swaddles) he wakes up and cries as soon as he’s down. This is the same everywhere, I can put him in his rocker or play mat for around 20 mins when all the stars align and he’s in a good mood. I’m scared I’m building a stick for my own back and that he will always be clingy. Anyone gone through something similar?

How to get baby to nap alone again?

Sorry in advance for the long post...Bit of context, our baby girl is 7months and was in the NICU for 5 weeks. She has always been a terrible napper/sleeper. Bedtime routine used to be bath, boob, bottle (we were triple feeding with ebm to help gain weight), rock & put down. She would fuss a little and we might have to rock her again but then she would sleep for a few hours. We started off by putting her down for 1 nap a day and worked up, but she never managed every nap going down.
She now exclusively nurses, and getting her down for bed is much easier as she just breastfeeds side-lying in bed and once she's done I place her in her cot and she sleeps much better at night.
The issue is, at about 4/5months, she started refusing to be held when breastfeeding most of the time when we were at home. She gets very distracted and will fuss and cry and wriggle away even if she is hungry, and unless we are out of the house she will only breastfeed and nap when lying next to be on my bed. She will wake up instantly if I try to put her into her cot or if I try to get up and leave so for 3 or 4 naps a day I am feeding her and then just stuck in bed. Sometimes, its heaven because I have a great excuse for extra rest but it would be amazing to be able to get some free time back, get some housework done and socialise (if we have guests over, I feel rude and a bit silly just staying upstairs as no-one seems to understand). I have tried to avoid doing it because I didnt want it to become a habit, but she will flat out refuse to nurse any other way, and im worried about worsening the aversion if I keep trying. She will occasionally feed lying on a pillow on the sofa if I lie down too, but again she gets very distracted. Would rather not go back to rocking as it used to take me and my partner forever to get her to sleep and multiple attempts, and I dont mind continuing to feed her on my bed at night as it seems to be working well but I'd love to be able to get her to nap alone for even 1 or 2 naps a day. She will nap in the car and in her pram if she is tired enough, but will wake up as soon as we stop so it doesnt reslly give me any free time back and also means she is taking less milk and then sleeps worse at night.
Anyone else been in the same boat? Or have any advice? I'm desperate at this point 🥺

Advice

Girls, my little girl is 14 months old now and is struggling in her cot as we co slept from December right threw till about 2 weeks ago, I’ve found that when I put my pillow I don’t use in which by the way is quite thin and a lot firmer than the rest she seems to sleep a lot better but I’m terrified of her sleeping with one I’ve bought her a toddler one and again she wakes up constantly should I leave her without one and get up or is she ok with my pillow? I’m worried she’s still to young
