Help

Hi, just wanted to say I had the same problem and was very worried, it took me a good 5/6 days to get back sensations of my bladder and being able to prevent this happening but it went back to normal. I also got some advice to go to the toilets every 2 or 3 hours max and if breastfeeding to go just before you breastfeed, and it helped a lot.

If it’s not improving after a few days I’d recommend being referred to a physio as well

Please don’t worry! In the end the midwives said to me just let your body release and they will help with cleaning. Your body has gone through so so much that the sensation of pushing can take a while to return, I think after 48 hours I finally was able to go toilet and felt somewhat more normal 😅

It’s been 4 days since birthing for me and trust me it does get much better, and less nervous around your own body. You’ve done amazing, just give your body the time to recover ❤️

I was advised by my NHS physio that it is very common but shouldn't be classed as "normal" and she advised if it happens this time around to do a self referral to the physio department (your trust should have this form online or ask your midwife). If it resolves in a few days then amazing, when they contact you can just say you don't need it anymore, but if it doesn't resolve then you at least have the ball rolling for support :-) good luck!

Its normal.. i had the same thing but didn't realise straight away because I had a catheter in for a few days after but I couldn't hold myself and would suddenly need to go!
My midwife said to just go for a wee whenever you get the chance - was like i needed my brain to make the connection again, same with going for a number 2.. im almost 3wks postpartum and all is back to normal
