How to deal with the emotions when weaning?

Currently weaning/weaned my daughter and I wasn’t prepared for how sad and emotional I would feel😭. How do you navigate and get through it? I exclusively bf for 19 months, she is my first child. I just feel so sad that it’s over and everything makes me cry, and at the same time I needed it to be over as well. Help💔

I could have written this myself! My son is 19 months, and I didn’t realize how emotional weaning was truly going to be. I wish I could give you some good advice, but I’m in the exact same boat. Hang in there ❤️

The hormone shift after stopping breastfeeding is what really got me this time. There’s really no practical advice other than give yourself some grace and space to work through these emotions. Naming the feelings helps some. But mostly understanding this is the season you’re in right now and it won’t last forever. Hang in there 🫂

I'm sorry you're feeling sad💔 I was super sad at first too. I stopped at 12 months and I wish I had gone on a little longer but I think 19 months is a good time to stop.

My advice for the sadness is just hang in there. Focus on new ways to bond with your baby like cuddling and reading books together. It's ok to mourn the loss of breastfeeding and to feel sad but the sadness is temporary. The sadness goes away. I definitely think there is a hormonal aspect to it. Once the hormones go back normal you kind of forget all about breastfeeding and you feel yourself again. You feel like you get your body back to yourself again and that does feel nice. Stopping breastfeeding doesn't mean you stop bonding with your baby, you just find new ways to feel close and bond 😊 Best of luck ladies 💕🙏🏻

Mum's some advice, please!

My little boy is 18 months old, I'm currently 7 weeks pregnant and having to use progesterone pessaries to help with my pregnancy. I've read it can lessen your milk supply and he only feeds during the night, his sleep has become progressively worse these last few nights, he's waking up almost every 40 mins at max 1hr and half crying and won't settle till he's with me and wants boob. The morning sickness is in full swing and I feel the very little sleep isn't helping. He's never slept through the night and has always had a few night wakes but they are getting worse.
Do you think it could be my milk supply? Has anyone else been through anything similar? Are there things you tried/done that's helped?
I've seen the bedtime creams all over tiktok, does it actually work?

RANT - Health Visitor complaint

I’ve just had the health visitor over for my 7 week old sons 6/8 week check and was wondering if this is ok or should I report this to save the next person who might not be as strong?

Baby boy was crying when she arrived and told me he sounds like he’s in pain, but had no suggestions on what to do and asked me if I still love him when he cries like that. She then asked me to list ‘3 reasons why i love my son’ and just sat staring at me until i answered - I was so on edge I couldn’t answer and she just raised her eyebrows at me and moved on. Asking me all extreme depression / mental health questions and going on and on and then watched over me why I filled in a depression chart.
Then told me I’m making bad habits by holding him when he sleeps, she’s the only midwife i’ve ever come across who has that option of a 7 week old baby? And then said if I continue to go to him when he cries he’ll learn that he can cry to get what he wants so told me to leave him to cry it out which goes against ALL advice online for this age?!

We are at our most vulnerable that we will probably ever be in our entire life postpartum. We will never forget the way people treat us. Postnatal depression is REAL. Imagine the next woman she says this too doesn’t cope with having those things said to her?

Can’t stop crying at my toddler

Anyone else just stare at their toddler and cry because they love them so much? This is strange to me because I absolutely hated the new born and baby bit. I struggled to bond for the first year and felt like I’d ruined my life. Then bit by bit things got better. Now I could eat her I love her so much. I’m glad I’ve reached this point but now I’ve gone the other way and it consumes me with the love, the worry and devotion I have towards her.
If you’ve experienced this, when do you feel more balanced as a mother? I worry I never will.

Breastfeeding

Really struggling with breastfeeding my 4 day old so looking for advice.

She will latch onto the breast but I don’t think she’s getting much. She’s never ever satisfied and will fall to sleep pretty instantly when on me. She has also made my nipples incredibly sore so feeding is really painful.

She’s doesn’t even seem like she’s swallowing anything. There’s definitely milk there now and it will fine out even when I touch my breasts.

I’ve been doing lots of skin to skin, stripping her down and changing her nappy to keep her awake ect. I’ve tried nipple shields which make it more uncomfortable and use nipple cream constantly which gives a little bit of relief.

I’ve been doing a mixture of formula because of how sore I am whilst waiting for my breast pump to come.

Feel like I’m failing and so close to just giving up with it as she’s just never properly settled after the breast.

Please please any advice or tips or anything would be really appreciated x
