Gestational Diabetes Tips?

Just got diagnosed early - 18 weeks 😩

Looking for your go to lunches & dinners, snacks, & sweet treats! My doctor doesn’t want me going keto so suggested making substitutions for whole grain pasta/bread/etc. Any tips welcome!

I have such a big sweet tooth, especially during pregnancy.

I found a lot of healthy sweets on Pinterest! Also, I would really recommend getting a lot more protein in, and consuming protein before carbs or sweets. I had gestational diabetes with my first and have had really low glucose levels this pregnancy by just focusing heavily on protein and making low-sugar swaps when I get my sugar cravings. Baked oatmeal ā€œbrowniesā€ are AMAZING too! I pop them in the microwave and add chiaboni vanilla sugar free Greek yogurt on top, and it’s like a lava cake b

Hi! FTM and on insulin to regulate GD. I second the plain Greek yogurt, and having cereal ā€˜parfait’ style on top (crushed up with blueberries), dark chocolate with almonds/cashews/walnuts. And not overly restricting carbs but learning to count your carb choices! Also, walking for ~20mins after a meal can help!

If you pair proteins/ fats with carbs it tends to balance it out! My fave snacks were:
Apple and cheese
Apple and peanut butter
Greek yogurt with dark chocolate and berries
Home made peanut butter cups- oats, peanut butter and dark chocolate.

Generally if you avoid certain carbs and pair your foods appropriately, it’s pretty manageable! I also recommend going for 20 minute walks after you’ve eaten xx

TW: image attached - Elective section scar healing

Hi all, I had my c section 12 days ago now. This is my 2nd section, the first time around it healed fine. But this time it feels a lot more intense. I have been having stinging sensation and pulling. Today I checked it and notice this lump. Is this normal, should I be concerned I’m worrried that the scar looks as though it’s healing outwards like a keloid?

Low iron and elective c section?

Hi all
Has anyone been successful in getting an elective c section while also having low iron?
I’m only 11 weeks so have a long way to go yet but already have low iron (vegetarian and have always had low iron/ anaemia). I’m taking OTC supplements and have asked for a transfusion if it gets more severe (not approved yet, who knows). I can’t stomach the prescription iron.
But I’m worried I could be refused an elective c section because of this (due to the increased bleed risk). Has anyone managed and if so how? Did you just push for transfusions beforehand?

I need people to fill up my side of the wedding?

Hi, my name is Morgan. I am having a wedding in about a year. Due to religious reasons, my parents and family will not be attending. Thus my side will be empty. I am taking applications for people to be my cousins aunts uncles and somebody to walk me down the aisle. Yes I’m aware of how pathetic the sounds but hit me up if you want to participate.

is it a bad idea to go get a private ultrasound before my first scan?

For context, I’m 8 weeks tomorrow, have known since week 4 on the dot. So far normal symptoms until now (frequent trips to the bathroom, sore breasts, EXTREME fatigue, no significant nausea yet) and no abnormal signs or even spotting. AKA I have no reasons to think anything could be wrong… but i’m an anxious girly, and (even though it sounds dumb) it almost doesn’t feel real? Finding out early and then just nothing for almost 2 months is kinda crazy to me?! I didn’t realise women spend most of the first trimester without being seen by a dr/midwife nor have any blood / health checks (my first appointment is next week with midwife). And I just feel like i’m totally in the dark so to speak, and wonder whether i’m missing something, or like there’s something i should know but don’t šŸ™ƒ so im tempted to get an early scan at a provider like window to the womb just to have some peace of mind baby is doing its thing as it’s supposed to 🄹But i don’t know if it’s just a waste of money or if it could maybe worsen my anxiety if they see an issue? Any advice welcome šŸ˜… (apologies for ramble, can you tell i’m an overthinker?)

Can anyone relate?

I am 35 weeks 3 days. When I wake up in the night, I have bad pelvic girdle pain and lower abdomen pain. I find when I walk round it settles. Does anyone else have this?
