Has anybody feel emotional numbness?

I have 3 kids, 11,3,1. Im a SAHM, my 2 oldest are school but ive been under intense stress the last 2 years. My pregnancy was awful due to problems, shots everyday, depression, dissociation, it was horrible. Then i gave birth and i had an emergency c section, and my baby almost died, and had NICU time that was horrible. I got PPD, and ocd in regards to my babies health. Right after my daughter birthday , i woke up destroyed i couldn’t stop crying, and i had bad emotional numbness, to my kids my husband. I see him and i dont feel nothing. I feel like im seeing him from other eyes. Which scares me, cause how can you lose feelings. Ive been over-stimulated, tired, no village only my husband so it has not been easy. Im also Bipolar 1.

Hey mama. I don’t know you, but I read your post and my heart honestly hurt for you. You have been through SO much, and you’ve been carrying it while continuing to care for three little humans. That is an enormous amount for one person to hold.

I just wanted to tell you something that I hope lands gently: please don’t interpret the numbness as proof that you’ve stopped loving your husband or your babies. After everything you’ve experienced, especially the pregnancy complications, emergency C-section, nearly losing your baby, NICU, PPD, OCD, chronic stress and exhaustion, it makes sense to me that your system might be completely overwhelmed.

Sometimes when we’ve been in survival mode for too long, it isn’t that love disappears. It’s that our access to our emotions becomes really muted. And I can imagine how fucking terrifying that must feel when you look at the people you love most and think, “Why can’t I feel anything?”

...Please don’t keep checking yourself for feelings either. You don’t have to stare at your husband and ask yourself whether you feel love. You don’t have to force yourself to feel connected to your babies. Just keep doing the loving things while you get support. Feed them, hold them when you want to, sit beside your husband, accept help, rest when you can. The feelings don't have to be present every second for the love to still exist.

And because you mentioned Bipolar 1, dissociation and everything you've been through, I really hope you have a psychiatrist/GP you trust and can tell them exactly what you wrote here. Not because there is something “wrong” with you, but because you deserve proper support through this. You have been carrying an extraordinary amount.

Most importantly, please be gentle with yourself. You are not a bad mum. You are not broken. And you haven't failed your family because you're struggling to feel right now.

You sound like a woman who has been surviving for a very, very long time.

You deserve to be held too. You matter🤍

Mama, one last thing. Please don't carry the guilt on top of everything else you're already carrying. Your kids and husband don't deserve to have you hurting, yes, but neither do YOU. You are not choosing this. You didn't wake up one day and decide to become numb or overwhelmed. You have been through some incredibly frightening and painful things and you've kept going and kept caring for your family through all of it.

And honestly, the fact that you're so worried about what your babies and husband deserve tells me how deeply you care about them, even if you can't access that feeling properly right now. Your feelings may be quiet, but that doesn't mean your love disappeared.

Please let yourself be a human being in this season, not just a mum who has to hold everyone together. Let people help you. Let your husband see that you need care too. And keep looking for the right professional support, especially given everything you've been through.

And if you ever need someone to talk to, even though we're strangers, you can message me. No judgement, no fixing you, no expectations. Sometimes you just need another woman to sit beside you in the darkness and remind you that you're still in there. 🤍

One day at a time, mama. You don't have to solve your whole life today just know this, it too shall passs xxxx

Alcohol and breastfeeding — feeling really guilty

Has anyone else ever ended up breastfeeding sooner than they intended after having a couple of drinks?

I normally try to keep track of what I’ve had and use an app to estimate when the alcohol has cleared, but tonight my baby completely refused the bottle and was absolutely demanding the breast. My estimated level was 0.23‰ (0.023%) when I fed her and I was only a few minutes away from the app saying I was good to go.

Rationally I know that’s a really small amount, but I feel awful because I’m now thinking back to other occasions where I’ve had drinks and breastfed and wondering whether I’ve accidentally exposed her more than I realised.

I’m not a regular/heavy drinker, it’s more dinners, holidays, occasions etc, but the mum guilt is getting to me. Has anyone else worried about this? How do you manage drinking and breastfeeding, especially if your baby refuses bottles? Please be kind ❤️

Cradle cap

Has anyone got any tips on how to get rid of cradle cap? I’ve tried oil and the frida cradle cap brush but it just doesn’t seem to want to go.

when did your shit sleeping baby get better and did you have to do anything to change

10 month old sleep is terrible. Was doing okay till 7 months but since wakes after 20 mins at bedtime. Then needs constant patting to settle throughout the night. I'm averaging 3 / 4 hours of broken sleep, 0 time to myself and really am not enjoying motherhood

Sleep Issues

My daughter is 11 months and still doesn’t sleep through the night, she wakes up about 2-3 times and wants to sleep in our arms. We will rock her and then put her back in the crib only to sometimes have her wake back up an hour later. If we leave her she just screams endlessly. Anything we can try or has anyone had the same thing happen?

Nappy Leaks

Anonymous post because I’m honestly at my wits’ end with nappies! 😩

My daughter is 83cm tall and 10.3kg, and we are having CONSTANT problems with wee leaking from her nappies — particularly in her car seat.

She needs a spare outfit with us pretty much every single day because she ends up soaked. I’m constantly having to change her clothes, clean the car seat and swap covers, and it’s becoming a nightmare.

We have tried:

* Pampers Size 5
* Pampers Size 4+
* Pampers Premium Protection (purple)
* Pampers Baby-Dry (blue/yellow)
* Pampers pull-ups Size 4 Premium Protection (purple)
* Pampers pull-ups Size 4 Baby-Dry (red)

And we’re still getting leaks. 😭

She’s quite tall and slim for her weight, so I’m wondering whether the issue is the shape/fit rather than the actual size. The leaks seem to be from wee rather than poo.

Has anyone had a similar problem with a tall, slim toddler and found a nappy that actually works? I’m open to trying a different brand entirely — I just need something that will stay dry, especially during car journeys!

What nappies worked for your tall/slim toddlers? And did you size up or down?

83cm / 10.3kg if that helps with recommendations. 🙏
