Not enjoying my kids at all

Everyone says to enjoy kids while they last because before you know it they’ll be adults. Mine are young and I hate being around them. They were sort of ok as babies but as toddler and school age kids, only negative things come out of being with them. They either complain, or whinge, or cry, or argue, or say they need the toilet, or say they’re bored, or tired or thirsty or hungry. Every interaction makes my actual brain hurt. I could be having the best day ever and I then come home to them and my mood completely drops. I just wonder why I’ve put myself through this. Why did I have children? It’s been 6 years and there’s not a single day that goes by where I have had a great day from start to finish. Whereas I had those days the majority of the time before kids.

I don’t understand how we’re expected to “enjoy every minute” of young children. How are mums supposed to enjoy getting a headache everyday from listening to crying, or from cleaning shit off the floor, or from stopping your child from damaging something that belongs to you or stop them from waving the toilet brush around the room. Please someone tell me. What am I doing wrong?????

I don't think your doing anything wrong. Maybe you have post partum depression, lack of enjoyment? Maybe your just overburdened with all the parenting and not enough support. I think you need a bit of me time and maybe one and one time with each child. Take them out on a special treat like ask them what they want to do? Train ride and cafe or swim? Your not expected to enjoy every minute, but maybe appreciate how short life is and how they grow up so quickly?

I can’t seem to do it. I try so so hard but every interaction is awful. I’m just wishing the time away and wanting them to get a bit older so they’re nicer to be around but I know I’ll be sad when they’re older and want nothing to do with me anymore. My 2 year old won’t let me give my 5 year old any attention sadly, he needs every ounce of me and it’s draining and my poor daughter suffers because of it. My husband is too busy to be helping out much, he has a business to run :(

I think that's it your doing the majority of the work and therefore you can't give them the attention. All kids really want is just attention.

Definitely, the attention drains me more than words can explain. Especially as my kids need me from 6:15am AS SOON AS I WAKE UP. Until 8pm not long before I go to bed. I have such little time to think without being interrupted and I don’t even attempt trying to have a conversation with another adult

They can sense your attitude/ feelings. Trust me! Anger sadness depression all rubs off on how they act!!! They need engagement love , entertainment. I feel like you should likely seek help...maybe therapy. Could could Jane ppd...talk to a dr possibly your low in VIT D iron or something else effecting your mood! First fix you then the kids will adjust once mom's happy.

I think you should get your tubes tied and get professional help I think that would really help with your mental health and will be fair to your children. They can feel our emotions.

I think it’s normal to feel overwhelmed. These days are hard and I don’t know that it’s realistic to enjoy EVERY moment.

Now, I’m gonna say something…and I’m gonna say it with love. Boundaries. You listed a whole lot of negative things about your children’s actions and it sounds like some of these things-not all-could be mitigated with some boundaries. How do you respond when they argue, say they are bored, wave toilet brushes around the room?

Small things like them being tired or hungry-that’s kid stuff. Are you able to have a snack ready before they get home from school? I’ve implemented a snack cart and that’s been a big help.

As far as your mood changing and not having a single day of joy-I would definitely recommend counseling. You may be experiencing some depression.

Mums of bad sleepers!! Does it get better?

My little boy is a horrific sleeper, he’s almost 9 months old, EBF, and has been waking every hour since 3 months. He’s fine with his naps, but his night time sleep is so bad. We started cosleeping for survival around 3.5- 4 months, but he doesn’t even sleep much better that way than he does in his room anymore. We have tried absolutely everything and I’m currently trying to anchor his morning wake up time and really space out his naps etc but I just want someone to tell me if this has ever actually gotten better! I have so many people give suggestions, but I’m not really after advice, I just want someone who had a baby with similar sleeping habits to tell me that it eventually gets better!

Car seat head flop

I've got the redkite i-savana set with car seat, my little 3mo has been doing a lot of head flops as she falls asleep during a drive and I'm worried as she's not got proper neck strength yet that when we do a longer drive in November it will be an issue. Am I worrying too much or is it time to look to get a different car seat?
The straps were pulled as tight as we could and newborn insert is removed as she's over 60cm. Seat can't be adjusted to tilt back.

When did your little one move out of bassinet pram attachment?

When did your little ones move from the bassinet pram attachment into the next stage? We have a Joie Signature, the next stage is the ‘stroller’ seat but it can be reclined so the baby is still lying down.

Health visitor appt before birth

Has anyone else received an appointment for a health visitor to come to their home? With my first pregnancy nobody from the health visiting team came to my home until after my son had been born, but this time I’ve received an appointment for over a month before my due date.

Sleeping !

Would it be totally bad if I let my baby sleep on their side? Instantly wakes up when he’s on his back 😭
