2.5 months PP and losing my mind

My baby is 2.5 months old and has had some serious struggles. After a long labour we were in hospital for 8 days and when we came home we found out he was deaf. Alongside this he had a severe tongue tie that was released and we’ve had countless breastfeeding hurdles along with reflux/colic. He’s not a great sleeper and is very up and down with naps. I feel like I’m losing my mind with worry and trying to solve all the challenges to do my best for him but it’s never enough and I feel full of self hatred. He is starting to reject the breast and prefer bottles which (even though I know is irrational) is making me feel utter despair and like he doesn’t love me. I can never switch off and I’m struggling to leave the house because I’m anxious about him getting upset. I love him more than anything and thought I was made to be a mum but nothing seems to be getting easier. Does anyone have any advice? I have been referred for talking therapy but there’s obviously a huge waiting list, and considering going on medication.

Motherhood is so full of challenges, i’m sorry its been like this so far.

With talking therapy, i don’t see them being better than just a good network. They just talk as if you’re friends. They don’t relate since they wont be in the same situation.

Your baby loves you to bits. Him preferring the bottle will never be anything personal other than its more “easier” for a baby to learn if they already started with some issues.

“It will get easier” is a phrase i hate, because it doesn’t get easier, u get stronger and you get to know your baby better, in that sense it gets easier.
I had no idea what i was doing until i think 4months, then i lost myself again bc he would change over and over again. Now i feel like its “easier” again, but i’m sure he will change again, demand different things etc.
The phrase “it will get easier” made things harder, cause all i kept thinking was i need time to go fast, and expecting it to stop being hard. So when it didnt i crashed down harder.

It sounds incredibly hard. Always remember fed is best. My second baby didn't know how to latch on my breasts after Dr Brown bottle feeding. But she was my second baby and I went through hell with my first where I took it personally when I failed breastfeeding. So this time, the rejection took me 3 days to get over because I knew better now. The baby loves you and needs you regardless. I know it's easier said then done but as long as the baby is fed. You are the best.

Motherhood is said to be not for the faint of heart. It is so true! My second child threw me for a loop-I felt like i knew what i was doing but with her i didn’t. I think therapy would be great but I love what the first person said-maybe find a good network. I am not sure about the UK but in the states there were lots of options for playgroups and mommy groups. I ended up at a really good one that left me energized afterward.

I wish there was some magic words I can say and when you’re in the midst of it-it seems impossible. Do you have anyone who can help you for an hour or two to get away-and i understand your desire to stay. Maybe you can start with taking an hour for yourself with you on your bedroom and see how he does in the house! And you can message me too! I always have said it takes a village and i still truly believe that.
