I combi feed my baby. Based on advice from relatives (lol) I was told when it comes to bottle feeds, especially at night feeds, just prepare them before we go to bed then reheat when needed.
My health visitor has come and advised against that due to bacteria growth. We thought this may be a reason why baby is in discomfort due to upset tummy.
To make life easier at night I’ve just gone back to breast feeding as he will cry the place down if he has to wait at night lool. If I have to make a bottle from scratch does anyone recommend at cooling device I can use?
Thank you x

Our health visitor actually told us to make the bottles ahead of time! I think the official NHS line is to not do that, but when we asked if there was a way to make giving formula easy she said to do it and it would be fine

I have the nuby insulator and rapid cool, I honestly swear by it! It helps sooo much and is so quick. It takes max 3 mins for me to make a bottle and I’ll usually buy time by changing her nappy while the water cools

We have a prep machine which makes it so much easier! Or the Nuby rapid cool.

I bought a water dispenser, and it's been a blessing in the night ...I just set it to the right temp for her... all you'll have to worry about is filling up the tank!!

We also have a prep machine and a rapid cool flask

The formula milk can go off, especially at this age, babies start to sleep for longer stretches.
I just use a flask where a put cooled boiled water and then have a little powder dispenser. I also take this with me on the go, and even at home. It literally takes like 30 seconds or even less :) x
And see if you can look for signs that he’s about to wake up before the crying starts. I know it sounds hard, but for example, my little one starts moving his head around and makes small grunting noises, so I know he’s getting uncomfortable and wants some milk.

Nuby RapidCool to cool down boiled water in minutes 👌 we also have the Tommee Tippee travel flask which keeps boiled water hot for several hours!

Nuby rapid cool got me through until I bought a prep machine - I got a tommee tippee day n night perfect prep on vinted for £30 and just had to buy the filters
My baby only takes 90ml formula each bottle though, so I still store the extra at the back of the fridge then I have it for his feed 4 hours later.
Original advice was no longer than 24 hours at the back of the fridge
Newer guidance says 12 hours
NHS just point blank rejects it
Just be smart about it and make sure you have super clean bottles you’re storing it in

I just have a bottle maker (a gift) and it’s been great no problems at all. It’s quick and easy press one button milk comes out perfect just fill up the water as and when needed

Depending on the brand formula you use but a lot do instant bottles that are ready made. I use the cow & gates ones on a night, my boy has 5 or 6oz and it’s 7oz in one bottle, so we just throw away what he doesn’t drink. They can be a little pricey to buy but it saved me having a baby scream the place down and have to wait for a bottle to cool or heat up! ☺️

Tbf, my 1st daughter is 15yo and I don’t remember any of this stuff being as regimental or faffy at all!!
And your family (probably older generations) like mine did used to make the bottles up in the fridge or take the bottle filled with water out with them and put the formulas in when needed - I’m not saying it’s right but we all survived lol. I’ve bought glass bottles because they’re easier to cool and warm and I’ve got a nuby rapid and that’s incredible - that’s one thing I wish I had 15y ago.
is this normal? He drinks fine during the day, but he started refusing bottles during the night. Sometimes i am able to trick him and feed him while asleep, but deffo not while he is awake. He also drinks just slightly less during the day. He used to drink almost 170ml, now barely finishes 150ml, only every now and then 170ml.
But he seems ok, he is happy , cheerful, etc. Even during the night he is responsive - when i change his nappy he wakes briefly and smiles at me ,💖
*I will ask health visitors in the morning aswell

My baby has always been a fantastic sleeper and would sleep through the night in her cot. Shes never slept in our bed. She would fall asleep on us and transfer over to her cot easily. Recently she is crying every time we put her down and waking multiple times in the night.
Has this happened to anyone else? It’s been a week now and I don’t want to make a habit of her sleeping in my bed when we’ve done so well up until now.

Baby is 9 weeks - we’ve been out to shopping centre/family but I panic so much thinking about his feeds - mainly, how will I make his milk when out/ will he run out?
I usually take ready made milk and feel ‘safe’ around shops as I can always buy milk if we run out. I’ve stoped this now as it’s too expensive and I have everything I need to prepare his milk.. so no excuse!
I always take so many bottles/ rapid cool/ flask with hot water / bottle with cool boiled water - I have everything but it causes me so much anxiety especially when I see others preparing milk with ease and confidence!
I just can’t work out the best way to prepare his bottles when out.
Also, as I take sooo much stuff as I don’t want to run out - I can’t fit everything into my bag 😩🙈
What do you find works for you? Thank you
