Going out with bottle fed baby

Baby is 9 weeks - we’ve been out to shopping centre/family but I panic so much thinking about his feeds - mainly, how will I make his milk when out/ will he run out?

I usually take ready made milk and feel ‘safe’ around shops as I can always buy milk if we run out. I’ve stoped this now as it’s too expensive and I have everything I need to prepare his milk.. so no excuse!

I always take so many bottles/ rapid cool/ flask with hot water / bottle with cool boiled water - I have everything but it causes me so much anxiety especially when I see others preparing milk with ease and confidence!

I just can’t work out the best way to prepare his bottles when out.

Also, as I take sooo much stuff as I don’t want to run out - I can’t fit everything into my bag 😩🙈

What do you find works for you? Thank you

Practice makes perfect - we use the nuby rapid system when we're out and it's brilliant! We usually just grab a coffee at the same time and it means we get a recharge.

If I'm going longer distances - for example I went from Bournemouth to Oxford the other day - I am led by him; if he wants a bottle I will find a service station or layby and feed him in the back of the car, burp him, change him and he's usually content.

You've got this girl - try to not make it a bigger problem than it is :)

I make 2 bottles up before going out depending how long and where im going and a rapid cool the bags isolated so the bottled made go in the front and theb ive the rapid cool if its still too warm I dont follow the guidelines as such for how long the bottle should be made before drank as its always the 1st time she drinks out of it and its normally finished within a hour but she also only likes room temperature bottle so it gives them time to cool. I also feed before going out even if just 1oz I then know shes fed and will last atleast a hour

I do the same as you, I take the rapid cool and a flask with boiling water. I usually take three bottles/3 feeds and make sure I have nappies/change of outfit and dummies! I do find my wee one is eating more so I'll look into getting another tub for his feeds but I usually find this lasts for the amount of time we are out! Could be worthwhile you buying the Milton wipes/tablets and you can sterilise bottles when you're out if needed so you're not taking as much stuff? But as Nicole said, practice makes perfect and it does get it easier 😊 x

I pre measured out the formula and water into two separate containers and then when it was time for a bottle I would make it just the same as I would at home! … room temperate water is just fine for bottles .. it doesn’t need to be heated.

I do the same I pre-measure the formula and put them into formula pots and hot water flask. The cooling flask from (Tommee Tippee) really helps cool the formula to room temperature! It literally, takes a few mins to prepare his milk! It’s great and that way ‘I know the milk is fresh rather than making the pre bottles (baby might not drink within the 2 hours mark)

Yes I put the formula water in the Tommee tippee cooling flask. Give it a shake and the milk is almost ready in 2 mins!!
Works wonders! 😁

3m old refuses bottle during night

is this normal? He drinks fine during the day, but he started refusing bottles during the night. Sometimes i am able to trick him and feed him while asleep, but deffo not while he is awake. He also drinks just slightly less during the day. He used to drink almost 170ml, now barely finishes 150ml, only every now and then 170ml.
But he seems ok, he is happy , cheerful, etc. Even during the night he is responsive - when i change his nappy he wakes briefly and smiles at me ,💖

*I will ask health visitors in the morning aswell

10 month old sleep regression?

My baby has always been a fantastic sleeper and would sleep through the night in her cot. Shes never slept in our bed. She would fall asleep on us and transfer over to her cot easily. Recently she is crying every time we put her down and waking multiple times in the night.

Has this happened to anyone else? It’s been a week now and I don’t want to make a habit of her sleeping in my bed when we’ve done so well up until now.

No judgment- FTM!

I combi feed my baby. Based on advice from relatives (lol) I was told when it comes to bottle feeds, especially at night feeds, just prepare them before we go to bed then reheat when needed.

My health visitor has come and advised against that due to bacteria growth. We thought this may be a reason why baby is in discomfort due to upset tummy.

To make life easier at night I’ve just gone back to breast feeding as he will cry the place down if he has to wait at night lool. If I have to make a bottle from scratch does anyone recommend at cooling device I can use?

Thank you x
