Hey so we’ve now gotten to the point with my almost 2yr old that the tv is on all day and when it isn’t on he will have full blown meltdowns if I don’t turn it on for him, we’re also dealing with a lot of behavioural issues and whilst he is suspected autistic which would explain quite a lot of it I do feel that the screen time may be contributing so I’m planning on removing all screens for a while and then slowly re introducing in more controlled ways (obviously if behaviour goes down hill again it will be removed again) and I’m just hoping to hear from other parents that have done this how did it go and when did the meltdowns stop? x

We quit TV cold turkey at a certain point when we figured out the TV was an obvious cause of his meltdowns. It took about a week of him being upset but then a complete 180 on his behaviour. He was so much calmer, barely had any tantrums at all. We reintroduced TV since then but we are super careful on what shows he can watch now.

Cold turkey. You are in charge mama and you can deal with your kid being unhappy.

Have you thought about a tonies box instead of having the TV on so they can still listen to stuff they enjoy but there is no screen?

Tonies and playing music in the back ground might help?
We started to integrate screen time into our twins routine but honestly, I didn’t like how they started to behave if they didn’t get to watch something so we pulled back again almost completely.
They listen to a Tonie or we build playlists together and the pick which list they want to listen to while they play.
What low effort (doesn’t take ages to set up) and enjoyable activities do you have/do at home?
My son is 3.5 years old, I’m really struggling to fill out days

I be missing my husband all day and the minute he walks in the house I can’t stand him. WHY? Can someone explain the science behind this cos it ruins the rest of the evening as well as any plans we’d made.

We’ve only been 2 for 1 month and let me tell you it’s scary! We were at a kids play place and kids are running around playing well my son made a friend with a little girl and they were running and out of nowhere he goes up to this random lady nd was jumping and kinda hitting her legs. I immediately ran, apologized and told my son that’s not nice and we don’t do that and removed him from the area. Then he doesn’t listen when we call him especially at home for diaper changes and baths. Idk what to do in the moment or at all really. I feel like telling him nice hands and all that doesn’t work no matter how many times I do it. Do I put him in timeouts, do I take away toys, do I let him cry it out sometimes? Honestly I need honest advice here

So I think me and my husband are caught up in a resentment battle. He works long hours in a stressful job while I’m on maternity leave. We have a 2.5 year old and a 7 month old. I breastfeed and the new quote has been “you get a rest all the time and when you breastfeed it’s easy you get to switch off”. I’m getting up 3 times a night on average while he sleeps through and I’m shattered. I’ve also been getting comments like “you’re getting forgetful and not getting anything done”. I seem to have a list as long as my arm plus carrying the mental load , doing the cooking, thinking about what meals next for my 7 month old to try as well as playing and spending quality time with them. I understand he’s stressed at work but these comments are unhelpful and feel we’re just getting resentful of the other person. Anyone else in this boat/ am I being unreasonable?
