Hi everyone. My baby is 7 weeks old, and I’m really struggling with breastfeeding at the moment. 💔
I had a C-section, and because of that I wasn’t able to breastfeed him for the first week. We gave him formula initially, and when I started trying to breastfeed, he refused to latch.
I’ve tried so hard to breastfeed him and have had multiple sessions with the feeding team, but unfortunately nothing seemed to work. I changed his bottle to Philips Avent about 2 weeks ago, and yesterday I tried breastfeeding again. To my surprise, he latched really well! I was so happy and thought we had finally made progress.
But today, when I tried again, he just screamed and refused to latch. I honestly don’t know what I’m doing wrong.
People around me have told me that I should let him cry because eventually he will latch. I tried that yesterday, but he was crying so hard that I had a complete mental breakdown. Seeing my baby so distressed made me cry badly too. I don’t feel comfortable making him cry just to get him to breastfeed.
I’m also exclusively pumping at the moment and trying to pump every 2–3 hours to maintain my milk supply. It is honestly exhausting, and sometimes I’m in so much pain and emotionally drained that I end up crying.
I’m trying my absolute best to give my baby only breast milk, but this whole journey has been much harder than I ever imagined.
Has anyone else experienced something similar, where their baby sometimes latches well but then suddenly refuses the breast? What helped you? I would really appreciate any advice or experiences. ❤️

my first baby was in nicu for the first month, after having surgery at 2 days old so was bottle fed as they were very strict with his input, and after that I tried & tried to breastfeed but like your little one he refused to latch, it’s so disappointing, I tried for months afterwards and exclusively pumping, in the end I gave up, because I was being to hard on myself, it’s not the end of the world not breastfeeding, you’re feeding him and that’s all that matters, & what also matters is your mental health, so don’t be hard on yourself, you’re doing the best you can💕

So my LO rescues to latch so I use nipple shields which helps me and I slowly try and get her on the boob when possible.

I am going through something similar and have felt like quitting breastfeeding 1000 times I’ve had mastitis, nipple thrush, and recently blisters on my nipple got infected. I have mum guilt about giving up even though my breasts have been in constant pain these past 8 weeks. My baby has mild tongue tie so getting a deep latch can be hard and I constantly have to re-latch him during a feeding or he’ll give me nipple vasospasm. It’s gotten to the point where I’m almost exclusively pumping because his latch has caused so many issues. Although I don’t love pumping it has saved my sanity a bit, I give him bottles during the day and breastfeed 1-2 times at night (I pump every 4 hours for 15 min to give my breast a rest from constant pumping/feeding). I’d also check with your lactation team to ensure you’re using the correct flange sizes.
I’ve also found the flipple method can help get a better latch when breastfeeding.
You’re doing amazing, hope things improve soon! 💕

I’ve been having the same problem, my baby had a tongue tie which was snipped at 2 weeks but I never noticed and improvement with her latching. She often just screams at my boob and refuses it, leaving me no choice but to give formula. Thinking about giving up breastfeeding completely. It’s exhausting mentally and physically and my partner doesn’t understand nor appreciate it so I’m thinking it would just be easier and maybe once he’s spending hundreds on formula he would wish he appreciated it a bit more😆

My son didnt latch at all until 8 weeks and then it just suddenly clicked for him... my daughter is currently 6 weeks and she sort of latched the first 2 days but then my nipples basically lost all elasticity I dont understand what happened really but we ended up back in hospital and while we were there we had to use bottles and the staff were apologetic but I was like oh its fine and explained about my son so I wasnt worried and they all looked so shocked and said its super unheard of for a baby to learn to latch that late 🥴😬 im hoping thats not true and just a case no one had reported back to them that late in the game lol recently had mastitis and currently we have thrush so not trying to get her to latch atm but I do intend to keep trying... fingers crossed! And good luck to you!!
My 3.5 month old fights sleep during the day SO BAD… even if I’m holding him he refuses to sleep, then gets overtired and is inconsolable.. anyone else dealing with this? Any tips? I keep questioning if something is wrong, but we quite literally have done everything.. he is on Pepcid for reflux, alimentum for CMPA, got lip/tongue ties released.. *but he will sleep at night without issue*

We’ve recently moved our toddler to a single bed with a duvet for the first time. She’s manages to stay under the duvet for the first 4 hours then doesn’t have the duvet on. Currently she’s at the other end, on top of the duvet.
Will she eventually stay under?

Is anyone else still struggling with high temperature rooms ?
We live in the south coast and our bedroom groegg thermometer is reading 24-25 degrees however it doesn’t necessarily feel that warm ?
My 7 month old is in a baby grow and 0.5 tog sleep bag as he feels cold to touch without the sleep bag but I’m still worried ??

Hi,
I’m really stressed because my mum is telling me not to get my child vaccinated with the 1 year jabs. My baby has already had the first 3 jabs but she’s really trying to get me to not get him vaccinated. I would like real opinions please. Has anyone here not had their baby jabbed? Please don’t think I’m silly for writing this, first time mum here so everything is so scary and new. Thank you!
