1 YEAR JABS, DO I GIVE THEM TO MY BABY OR NOT?

Hi,
I’m really stressed because my mum is telling me not to get my child vaccinated with the 1 year jabs. My baby has already had the first 3 jabs but she’s really trying to get me to not get him vaccinated. I would like real opinions please. Has anyone here not had their baby jabbed? Please don’t think I’m silly for writing this, first time mum here so everything is so scary and new. Thank you!

i don’t have a baby yet but i feel like they’re there for the babies safety it’s like the ones you can get in pregnancy, it’s to protect your baby against harmful virus’s and illnesses, but that’s just my opinion x

I've had both mine jabbed and I'd do it 300 times again. It's so important and protects both your baby and others around them. So tricky when your mum is saying the opposite but you're the mum of your baby and while im sure she means well sometimes you just have to take the reins and do what you think is right for your baby xx

Oh mama, please do not think you are silly at all for posting this! Being a first-time mum is incredibly overwhelming, and everything feels so scary and high-stakes when it comes to protecting your little one. It is completely understandable that you are feeling stressed out, especially when the pressure is coming from your own mum.
First, take a deep breath. You are doing an amazing job. Your baby has already safely sailed through their 8, 12, and 16-week jabs because you are protecting him, and that is something to feel really proud of.
Grandparents love our babies fiercely, but advice from older generations is often based on old myths, personal anecdotes, or outdated information rather than modern medical facts. The 1-year jabs in the UK are incredibly important because they introduce protection against things like Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (the MMR), Meningitis B, and Pneumococcal infections right as your baby’s natural immunity from you starts to fade and they begin exploring the world more.

Please please get your baby vaccinated!
It not only protects them but other children and vulnerable people.
I presume you have trusted your doctors and midwives with their knowledge and expertise so far so why would you listen to your mum over them on this?
I don’t mean to sound harsh but I’m very passionate about this, vaccines have saved millions of lives and this strange anti science backlash recently is causing completely unnecessary deaths and suffering. Vaccines go through so many tests and regulations before they are used on people, by the time they are being given regularly to babies the risks are absolutely tiny compared to the benefits.
Please do your own research from reputable sources and make a responsible decision.

The MMRV is arguably the most important of them all and everyone that hasn’t had to listen to the shrieks of a measles baby should be eternally grateful. Antivaxxer propaganda has already cost a child their life and the ones that survived measles in the past year and a bit only did because they had received a dose of the vaccine not vaccinating is a death sentence for the unvaccinated child and the vulnerable ones around them and whatever bs your mum is listening to about developmental delays after vaccination is just that it’s bullshit propaganda spread by ignorant people

It’s 3 jabs at 1, two of which you’ve already given them at their previous appointments, the only new one is the MMRV. Is that the one she’s worried about?
I would suggest reading about it on the NHS site, look into the expected side effects so that you are prepared for if they have a fever or a rash, as these are very normal and common immune responses to this jab.

Measles cases are on the rise because of the abundance of fear mongering and misinformation spread on social media. I’ve even heard of mumps in my area which is terrifying to me as it’s not a disease I ever knew anyone to get when I was growing up.

Here’s the link to the vaccine schedule so you can see what jabs are due when, and which ones you’ve already given and which ones are top ups/new vaccines. I hope you find it reassuring.

Also a lot of the worry I see is that people say their baby changed after or their development was affected.

This is correlation and not causation.

Babies go through massive development changes around 1. Some are trying to walk/talk, some are moving onto cows milk, food is becoming more a part of their daily diet, there is so much going on for them at this time. It’s also usually when developmental delays may start to show because of their age and when you might expect to see them hit or not hit certain milestones.

The vaccine does not suddenly cause them to change, but people jump on it and say it must be that because why else would their baby be different, without considering that they will continually change as they grow and develop more of a personality, and they are learning to do everything.

My LG is 3, has had all vaccines, had the expected reactions, and is a perfectly happy and healthy child.

I agree with Courtney.
I have had all available jabs for my child and will do the same for my baby.
I would rather protect them against these horrible, potentially deadly diseases.
My FIL was against jabs and sometimes I think it is a bit of a generational thing as he looked at a lot of YouTube videos about it and often wasn't able to differentiate between advice from a reliable source and scaremongering from someone with no medical expertise.
I'm not saying it is the same for your mum, just sharing my experience.

Toddler not staying under duvet

We’ve recently moved our toddler to a single bed with a duvet for the first time. She’s manages to stay under the duvet for the first 4 hours then doesn’t have the duvet on. Currently she’s at the other end, on top of the duvet.

Will she eventually stay under?

Help Breastfeeding

Hi everyone. My baby is 7 weeks old, and I’m really struggling with breastfeeding at the moment. 💔

I had a C-section, and because of that I wasn’t able to breastfeed him for the first week. We gave him formula initially, and when I started trying to breastfeed, he refused to latch.

I’ve tried so hard to breastfeed him and have had multiple sessions with the feeding team, but unfortunately nothing seemed to work. I changed his bottle to Philips Avent about 2 weeks ago, and yesterday I tried breastfeeding again. To my surprise, he latched really well! I was so happy and thought we had finally made progress.

But today, when I tried again, he just screamed and refused to latch. I honestly don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

People around me have told me that I should let him cry because eventually he will latch. I tried that yesterday, but he was crying so hard that I had a complete mental breakdown. Seeing my baby so distressed made me cry badly too. I don’t feel comfortable making him cry just to get him to breastfeed.

I’m also exclusively pumping at the moment and trying to pump every 2–3 hours to maintain my milk supply. It is honestly exhausting, and sometimes I’m in so much pain and emotionally drained that I end up crying.

I’m trying my absolute best to give my baby only breast milk, but this whole journey has been much harder than I ever imagined.

Has anyone else experienced something similar, where their baby sometimes latches well but then suddenly refuses the breast? What helped you? I would really appreciate any advice or experiences. ❤️

Fed up, baby wont sleep and everyones elses seems to😥

My baby just will not stay settled at night. Just gone 6 weeks old. I can transfer her from me to cot fine after a feed, then within 15mins she is fussing and unsettled, reflux, being sick, wakes herself up then is crying or wide awake. This goes on for 2hrs until she then starts fussing for a feed 2hrs after the last feed.
I literally cannot get any sleep
Seems thats everyone else's baby sleeps better. I have a 4 yr old and had horrendous sleep with him to for 2 yrs. Why is it happening to me again, I actually said I'd never have another child due to the such bad sleep if my 1st child, then convinced myself it'd be better 2nd time
..and its not proving that way. I cant catch a break 😥
Ive tried everything to make her settle and she wont

Refuses cot at all costs & would love tips!

Our 6 week old baby will sleep incredibly well on us (for most of the night, we split shifts) but she won’t go down in her cot at all for longer than
20 mins (if we’re lucky). She also will only nap on us during the day.

We’ve tried a few things but looking for any tips/advice!
