Hi girls, i need some advice as im at a loss and not sure what to go with when reading online, so when i went for my midwife booking appointment they mentioned tests that they woukd do at 12 weeks for such conditions like down syndrome ect i cant remember them all. They said i woukd speak to someone before hand to go through it all but i have my 12 week scan this Thursday and no ones been in contact and i dont know weather i should have the tests done or not, iv spoke with my partner and you know weve both said whats meant to be will be and if these test bring risks then i would rather avoid them as baby will be perfect however they are but id like opinions/advice and experiences please just so i have the best knowledge going forward, thank you ❤️❤️

What do you mean if tests bring risks? The test is completely not invasive is basically just a blood test you get.
My husband and I were also of the opinion that the baby is perfect however they are. However we still went ahead because it doesn't harm me or baby to get a blood test done and would give us extra info to prepare if needed.
But it is totally up to you guys what you choose to do

Heyy, I recently had the testing done at my 12 week scan. They just measure amount of fluid at the back of your baby's neck during the scan so it's not invasive and they will they use this information along with a blood test from yourself to tell you if your Baby is high risk or low risk for these genetic conditions. I think whether or not you choose to have it is a personal decision. Some people like to know, whereas others don't. Hope this helps ❤️

Im not sure its just by what iv been told by people, i dont have any friends of my age ect who are pregnant to ask about these things and reading online i get mixed opinions so i was just wondering what the tests entail as obviously iv never had to have these done before, so are all the tests blood tests? Nothing thats invasive?

They measure the fluid of baby neck in scan and take bloods. Not invasive and no harm

This will be my third baby. I’ve had the testing done for my previous two and will do for this one as well. The only reason being is so we can prepare for baby’s needs and get any extra support available to us when baby is born. Like above, it takes 2 mins and is a measurement during your scan. Then you’ll also have a standard blood test too I think.

Just had this last week. It’s a measurement for fluid at the back done during the scan and then blood tests. No harm to baby and had my results already 😌 it’s only if you get a result of high risk you get an option of further testing which is invasive

Just had this done. Downs and T13 is just a measurement taken during the scan. They take measurements on screen. Nothing goes inside you, just ultrasound - quite normal and routine for most pregnancies. My baby wasn’t in a good position, so I’ll have a maternal blood test for downs at another appointment, just my blood, not baby’s. If they find measurements from the scan or bloods that may indicate a syndrome in baby then you may be given an option for another procedure that is invasive and requires a sample of amniotic fluid. But that’s not to say that scanning is always accurate btw.

I was unclear also on the procedure they measure the fluid on SCREEN. No internal examination done at all
I’ve just been on monitor at assessment unit and they’ve asked if I’m having any tightenings and I said I could feel them but nothing major. Midwife said they are measuring higher than braxton hicks, has anyone else had this and it progressed?
Thanks!

I’m 3 weeks PP and feel good to go, like I’ve got an itch that needs scratching and I know my partner does too 😅
In the UK we’re advised to wait 6 weeks and he’s super considerate and wants to wait the full 6 weeks to ensure that I’m okay, has anyone else gone for it sooner than 6 weeks after a c section?

I would love to do my outings with my baby, however every time I take him out I end up having to take him out the pram and walk with him in my arms lol. It therefore puts me off wanting to go out as much because he cries in the pushchair.
Maybe I should take him out more to get used to it? Any other advice on how I can get him to just chill in the pushchair lol.

Hi I’m very early pregnant with my first! 5 weeks! I have suchhhh mixed emotions I hope that’s normal.
I also suffer with inflammatory bowel disease ( ulcerative colitis) wondering if anyone else pregnant with similar condition or an autoimmune disease and how it’s affecting it all?

Did not expect the news today that I’m Infact having a little girl. Everyone says the cord is rare but it clearly isn’t. I’m total shock!
Need to exchange clothes. 🙈 hopefully it’s the same gender at our 20 weeks scan. Haha.

Is it completely normal not to have a baby bump at 14-15 weeks pregnant? 😅x
