6 week postnatal checkup

I have my 6 week checkup today, is this an appointment I have to bring baby to? Did anyone else go alone or do they check anything for baby also! Thank you x

I brought my daughter bc my husband went with me they didn’t check anything with her just me and asked if I had any concerns

Usually it’s a mother baby checkup between 6-8 weeks. Where I live they do it at 8 weeks so baby have their immunisations at the same time. Maybe ring them and ask if it’s a mother baby checkup just to be safe

At my doctors they do both mum and baby in the same appointment x

At mine it's both mum and baby at 8 weeks

Looks like in England they do a baby mommy check up, here in Texas at least it’s only a mom check up. I brought my baby because my husband also wanted to know how I was doing. He felt since he’s been coming to every appointment since I got pregnant it was only right for him to be there too. And doctor loved to see how baby looks and doing

Yes, in the UK you have to bring your baby to the six week check up and they check everything over with your baby and to be honest the only thing they check with the Mother is if she wants birth control or not 😃 I remember I asked them do you not wanna look at my stitches from my episiotomy to make sure it’s healing She said no 🤣

In the US I think it’s usually just for the mommas. I go to my obgyn for my reproductive health and I take babes to her pediatrician

In the US i brought my baby but the appointment was only for me! They did an exam and I had my baby on my chest the whole time because she was crying so much 😣😣

Would this bug you?

My partner does his own washing (great!) and I do mine and our toddler’s.

Sometimes I put toddler’s clothes straight in the washing machine if they are ditched, with a view that I’ll do a load later.

But this morning, my partner needed to do a load of washing and instead of washing our toddler’s clothes with his (toddler had a vest, jumper, and a top), my partner took our toddler’s clothes out, put them on the side, so he could wash his own clothes???

Why not just chuck our toddler’s clothes in with his?

This has happened twice now and he’s never washed our toddlers clothes

When did your period return postpartum? Especially if you were breastfeeding

My period still hasn’t returned an my baby turned one last month! I kinda thought it would have returned by now.. a couple weeks ago I got symptoms that had me thinking I may be ovulating but still no period. Even took a pregnancy test today just to make sure. Anyways, if you did get yours was it after you cut down on breastfeeding sessions or eliminated overnight feeds? My baby has only ever fed at breast never taken a bottle but he took right to solids at 6 months and now eats lots. He maybe breast feeds once or twice throughout the day but still wakes overnight a few times and I nurse him back to sleep.

Going toilet

Any advice/tips on weeing after birth? I had my baby girl yesterday and I’ve got a second degree tear, very close to third degree. I’m in so much pain with going to the toilet. I’ve got a peri bottle and spritz for bits for after but has anyone got any other recommendations that helps the stinging? I’m drinking lots of water to make sure my urine isn’t concentrated too
