16 week midwife appointment

Is there anyone from Portsmouth, able to tell me if they check for babies heartbeat at the 16 week midwife appointment still? I'm feeling super anxious this pregnancy so I'm hoping they will at my appointment tomorrow, but don't want to get my hopes up too much. I'll actually be 17+6 at tomorrow's appointment. Thank you x

Yes my previous pregnancy they did this at my 16w midwife appt xx

My midwife in London said no because baby is too small so sometimes it can be hard to find so just leads to unnecessary worry x

I’m in Essex but my midwife did check babies heartbeat at my 16 week appt last week so hopefully they will for you 🤞🏼 x

What else do they do on the 16 week check up? I have mine on Thursday

Up my way they don’t routinely check until after 20 weeks due to causing potential worry if they can’t find it. I asked my midwife though and she made an exception on the basis I promised I’d not worry more if she couldn’t find it. This was today and although it took a while to get a clear sound, she found it fine! There’s never a harm in asking for them to deviate from the guidelines, but they might refuse so just prepare for that in case! I only asked because I’ve not felt movement yet and it’s my third, with my second I felt movement at 14 weeks!

Head flopped backwards

Mums, has this ever happened to you?

My 9-week-old was being held upright and for a second I took my hand away from supporting his upper back/neck. He suddenly flopped backwards quite far and it really scared me. He seemed completely fine afterwards and has been acting normally.

I know babies this age still have wobbly head control, but has anyone else had a similar moment? I think I just need some reassurance 😭

C-section mummas!

My girl is now almost 4 months and every now and then (everyday actually) I reminisce on my birth experience.
It definitely wasn’t as I pictured, I went in intending on all natural, my waters broke before contractions and when I arrived to the hospital the nurses didn’t believe me when I said bub was close and contractions were close and painful (turns out I was 9cm dilated within the time my waters broke and the 1.5hrs it took to get to hospital)
When I finally got a room after begging, baby girls heart rate was dropping and she ended up getting stuck and having the cord wrapped around her neck resulting in emergency c-section (the forceps and vacuum failed beforehand too)
I had been awake a whole 30hrs including this, I was so exhausted and shaking non stop.
Anyway my main point of this is I don’t remember them lifting her over the curtain to show me, even though my partner says they did, and I barely shed a tear when I held her for the first time, and when I fed her for the first time the nurse had to hold her because i continuously fell asleep whilst i was trying to soothe my dry throat with an iceypole at the same time.
Basically, I just feel so much guilt, i feel like i should have been more awake and full of adrenaline enough to enjoy the first time seeing my daughter, i live with this guilt everyday because i feel like i should have expressed more emotion. Please let me know if anyone has had a similar experience.

18 week tiredness

Is anyone still feeling shattered? I’m 18 weeks now and although I have a bit more energy I’m just so tired.
Iron levels are fine. I’ve been doing some swimming to try and move my body a bit more but I still feel like I need a daily nap. Anyone else feeling the same?

20 week scan

I had my 20 week scan last Friday, everything was fine but she said that little girl had a big stomach and could potentially mean GD, the chart told her she was just under the worrying measurement to like get a early test for it but I’m still pure panicking about it that I’ve done something wrong to cause this. I have another scan on Thursday due to her being cheeky and not allowing them to get spine measurements so thinking I should ask for a second look? Anyone else been told this before and it been okay? Maybe she’s just a chunk lol x
