My girl is now almost 4 months and every now and then (everyday actually) I reminisce on my birth experience.
It definitely wasn’t as I pictured, I went in intending on all natural, my waters broke before contractions and when I arrived to the hospital the nurses didn’t believe me when I said bub was close and contractions were close and painful (turns out I was 9cm dilated within the time my waters broke and the 1.5hrs it took to get to hospital)
When I finally got a room after begging, baby girls heart rate was dropping and she ended up getting stuck and having the cord wrapped around her neck resulting in emergency c-section (the forceps and vacuum failed beforehand too)
I had been awake a whole 30hrs including this, I was so exhausted and shaking non stop.
Anyway my main point of this is I don’t remember them lifting her over the curtain to show me, even though my partner says they did, and I barely shed a tear when I held her for the first time, and when I fed her for the first time the nurse had to hold her because i continuously fell asleep whilst i was trying to soothe my dry throat with an iceypole at the same time.
Basically, I just feel so much guilt, i feel like i should have been more awake and full of adrenaline enough to enjoy the first time seeing my daughter, i live with this guilt everyday because i feel like i should have expressed more emotion. Please let me know if anyone has had a similar experience.

I had a C-section after 36 hours, I was also exhausted, on gas and air until I couldn't take anymore, when they got my son out, washed, weighed etc my husband was the first to see him as he cut the cord, he tried to show me our baby and I said "I'm so tired my eyes aren't focusing, I'll still love him later when I see him". I find the story so funny to share because it didn't matter what I saw at that moment I just knew I loved my baby and we will have that bonding time.
So don't feel guilty for what you missed, you did everything you could to have a safe arrival for your baby ☺️

My waters broke with poo in them, got to the hospital 30mins later and was contracting every 2 mins but only 2cm dilated. Baby’s heart rate was also dropping every time I contracted and got rushed into emergency c section. His cord was wrapped around his neck and torso. When they got him out, they whisked him away to the other room to get his breathing going. I was shell shocked the entire time and didn’t cry once, just completely shocked as it was 2 hours between water breaking and him being born. It happened so quick that I just froze mostly.
He also wouldn’t feed from me, became severely dehydrated and had low kidney function. We were in and out of hospital all week. We are 2 weeks past that now and doing good and I love him to bits.
Also didn’t get the experience I was hoping for but just glad that me and my baby are alive and healthy now and that’s all that matters.

It is okay to have grief about your birthing experience. Completely completely okay. But it is not your fault, your body did absolutely nothing wrong, and today you have a healthy baby ❤️ even if you can’t remember some of those first moments, the bond it created with your little one was real and you BIRTHED A BEAUTIFUL BABY!! You did it! You are amazing.
After my c section, I was SO itchy. So itchy. I needed Benadryl to stop from peeling off my skin. It made me take a super long nap while my partner held down the fort with some formula. That rest was what my body needed to recover and get back on track, and hey, it gave my partner some one on one time, too.
Mums, has this ever happened to you?
My 9-week-old was being held upright and for a second I took my hand away from supporting his upper back/neck. He suddenly flopped backwards quite far and it really scared me. He seemed completely fine afterwards and has been acting normally.
I know babies this age still have wobbly head control, but has anyone else had a similar moment? I think I just need some reassurance 😭

Is there anyone from Portsmouth, able to tell me if they check for babies heartbeat at the 16 week midwife appointment still? I'm feeling super anxious this pregnancy so I'm hoping they will at my appointment tomorrow, but don't want to get my hopes up too much. I'll actually be 17+6 at tomorrow's appointment. Thank you x

Is anyone still feeling shattered? I’m 18 weeks now and although I have a bit more energy I’m just so tired.
Iron levels are fine. I’ve been doing some swimming to try and move my body a bit more but I still feel like I need a daily nap. Anyone else feeling the same?

I had my 20 week scan last Friday, everything was fine but she said that little girl had a big stomach and could potentially mean GD, the chart told her she was just under the worrying measurement to like get a early test for it but I’m still pure panicking about it that I’ve done something wrong to cause this. I have another scan on Thursday due to her being cheeky and not allowing them to get spine measurements so thinking I should ask for a second look? Anyone else been told this before and it been okay? Maybe she’s just a chunk lol x
