Cry it out?

Have you let your baby cry it out to get them to sleep through the night? Everyone has recommended it but I can’t bring myself to do it. The doctor said it’s the only way to have my baby sleep at night.

Personally I wouldn’t recommend it, Babies aren’t manipulating us they just need comfort and there are most likely better ways to help them sleep without leaving them to cry. I know your doctor suggested it but id look into other methods first. Babies wanting their mum is normal 💕

I’ve heard a lot about how crying it out teaches infants that when they cry out no one is coming. Breaks trust.

You’re doing the right thing by asking around.
If you don’t understand 110%, research.

We did Ferber method so like small little sections and then would go in after a few min as they got older we definitely did more cry it out because there was literally nothing we could do

Ive never, my boy is 2 and i still wont let him cry for longer then it takes me to get up to see him it absalutely breaks my heart

My 5 month old thankfully isnt really a crier and more so complains in baby coo's untill i pick her up 😅

I believe it conditions them to believe that no one is coming which breaks the trust, I was always against it because it’s how they communicate that they need something. I have sometimes struggled a lot with putting my daughter to sleep and she’d have to contact nap but this is a saying I see everywhere, why are we expecting babies to sleep on their own when we get to sleep with our pet or our partner and sleep with a warm body every night. Were their mama were meant to be their safe place and their biggest comforter

My 10mo old now sleeps through the night, once in a while she’ll wake for a feed but not every night.

We did no sleeping training whatsoever. Once she hit 6mo and ended up transitioning to formula full time, something just clicked in her.

So, no.. sleep training is NOT the ONLY way to get a child to sleep through the night 🙄 your doctor needs a good shake, and the Apple Jacks licensed needs to be returned.

I personally also hate crying it out, I have been getting my girl to sleep in the crib using the chair method. You sit with them until they fall asleep, letting them know you’re there and comforting them. I did find that it’s easier once they are a little bit older, I do think at some point they’re ready to sleep on their own. I started with mine at 17 months she still transfers to our bed in the middle of the night but she starts off in her crib. It’s a slow process to be honest. But I prefer that over crying it out. Also If it’s for sleeping through the night I don’t know when that happens mine still wakes up 3-5 times a night no matter what we do. She wakes up asking for her pacifier but goes right back to sleep. Sometimes they just need to be comforted to go back to sleep 🤷🏽‍♀️

How old is your little one?

I don’t recommend crying it out.

absolutely not. cry it out method is horrible. babies cry because they want something. babies crying is their way of communication and it just teaches babies that nobody is coming. there are healthier ways to get your baby to sleep at night rather than the cry it out method x

If my son was having a really difficult night and wouldn’t settle/stop crying
And I’d tried everything, I let him cry in his cot for 10 minutes while I go destress
When I came back he’d have tired himself out quite a bit so a nice long cuddle and a lullaby would get him sound asleep.
Apart from those nights where it feels like baby’s never gonna stop crying, I never leave my children to cry.

Baby doll

Anyone get their son a baby doll? Did they love it?
Thinking of getting mine one for christmas as he's gravitated towards one a couple of times at a toddler group. For context my son will be 18 months, nearly 19 months at Christmas.

Refusing nap at age2 help!

My little one is 2y 2m old. She has just all of a sudden stopped napping. Nursery told me they spend half hour with her and she won't sleep and same at home. I'm really worried nursery will stop trying. But she just will not settle down at all all of a sudden. Help please. It's way too early for her to drop the nap!

Travelling with a 1 year old

Can I put a car seat in the front passenger seat for travelling with my baby?! He hates the car and just cries if he’s in the back by himself. I have family 4 hours drive away and I have to do the travel alone most of the time. It’s so stressful and exhausting trying to entertain him and I can’t just let him cry. How do you travel with a baby who hates the car? 😩

Sleepless nights due baby nonstop crying on and off for over 2/3 hours

I’m literally at breaking point, with my baby, his 3 week old and there’s some nights where he will do a screaming party in the early hours of the morning and it’s nonstop crying and I feel like a awful mum for it, I try everything to settle him and he not having none of it, and when I got my son checked at hospital because I was so worried they said he was healthy which is good news that he healthy just feel deflated and hopeless mum, and it’s destroying my mental health, at the minute.
I don’t remember my oldest boy being anything like this, I remember doing feeds and he’d stay up but not the screaming constantly.

How often are we changing sleepsuit?

If baby isn’t spitting up / having poop explosions and their sleepsuit is fine, how often are we changing them into a fresh one?

Are we changing them daily? I have been doing so but my husband thinks it’s pointless to change them into clean clothes if their outfit hasn’t got messy or dirty
