Fibroids and home birth?

I’ve got a small fibroid but even though it’s small the consultant still recommended I don’t home birth. The home birth team don’t seam concerned and are still happy for me to go ahead…. it’s higher risk of haemorrhaging but after doing research I can actively manage this by getting the placenta out straight away… I’m not worried, if I have to go to hospital so be it ,but I’d rather try to continue with a home birth as planned. Anyone else have any experience with this?

Have they recommended it or said you can't have one? As long as you've been signed off by your consultant it's up to you what you do!

I’m 39 so that might also be something to do with it.

If you haemorrhage have they given you any kind of timescale as to how long you would have to get to hospital. I feel like that is quite important for your home birth team to know! Also you can't just get your placenta out as pulling on your placenta can cause hamorrhage. So you would just have to wait for that to pass naturally. Sorry not saying that to scare you just wanting you to be informed. X

I have a fibroid around 3.5cm, they didn’t say I couldn’t have a home birth but I also didn’t request one.
I didn’t realise there was an extra risk of haemorrhage either however they did have trouble getting my placenta out even with the injection I almost ended up in theatre. X

Yeah same as induction with oxytocin it doesn't always work. So the Dr's have said if you were to haemorrhage 40 minutes is enough time? Absolutely the decision needs to be yours just knowing all the details in case this complication does arise is vital. Xx

Waiting for miscarriage

I am so so upset and frustrated & wondered if anyone else has been through similar.

Last Saturday I started bleeding red blood - I should have been almost 8 weeks pregnant.
The bleeding was only a bit and lasted for an hour or so then turned to spotting.

I got scanned a few days later and the scan showed an empty sac measuring 5-6 weeks. No fetal pole or anything.

So understandably they told me to come back a week later for another scan.

I had told myself by this point that I was having a miscarriage because I knew my dates were not wrong. I know when I ovulated & I know when I last had sex in order to conceive so there was no possible way I could be over 2 weeks out.

I’ve been spotting brown blood all week and losing some small clots.

Went back for the second scan today expecting to be told it was a miscarriage and hoping I would be given my options on how to pass it.

But they said I have to wait another week for another scan to be sure.

My bloods are all very low and have not increased so I was basically told in the week that it’s unlikely this pregnancy is progressing.
So since nothing has changed in 10 days or so I don’t know why I’m being made to wait another week just for the inevitable.

It’s absolute torture being made to wait.
I’m off sick from work because I’m essentially waiting to have a miscarriage that could happen at any time but I’ve been told I get 2 weeks of sick leave. So if this goes on for another week plus then I don’t know what I’m going to do.

I also wanted to opt for the surgical removal but now I won’t get that option until next week & if I naturally pass it in the meantime I basically just have to deal with it.
I’m so upset and heartbroken and just exhausted. I’m already being tortured knowing I’ve lost my pregnancy. It’s just awful 😢

Is it a bad idea to watch "one born every minute" when pregnant?

So I am 16 weeks and 5 days now and I want to try to prepare myself for what's to come. I have had mixed reactions to the idea of watching child birth docs/TV shows such as one born every minute. What do people think? I have never seen the show before myself, Will this be helpful or am I going to scare myself? 😂😂

HELP!

I have just found out I am having another baby boy. My first son is called Jasper James. I love uniques names that you can’t shorten down. I have loved the name August for a boy since being pregnant with Jasper in 2023 but family wasn’t keen and we both liked Hunter but knew of someone with that name. My fiancé still wants to use the name Hunter which I like but I still love August. Which would you say goes better with Jasper James.
