I’m 28 weeks pregnant and for the past 2 weeks have been experience a lot of rib pain. Sometimes it’s on the front, sometimes on the back and sometimes all over. It can be so uncomfortable / sore at times that it catches my breath and feels like a constant ache.
I think it helps sometimes if I lie down on the opposite side, I’m not sure if it’s the baby’s position or stretching to make room. This is my first pregnancy, does anyone have experience with this type of pain? Any advice on easing would be great!

Could it be gas?

I had rib pain for much of my 1st pregnancy with my son! Anytime I would sit down, or lay down especially it felt like he would immediately push himself up into my ribs! It was almost always a foot or elbow shoving up into my right rib in particular!!
With my current pregnancy it has been similar but not as consistent!
To ease it I just adjust whatever position I’m in and sometimes push around on my belly (lightly of course) to try to encourage baby to move!

32 weeks pregnant here ! I’ve had rib pain for the last few weeks maybe more up in my back/almost shoulder blade area but it moves around a little. I was told it’s from the weight of belly/boobs pulling forward. I find stretching helps a lot! Our torsos get really tight in pregnancy so movement is really important. I’ve still been uncomfortable after a few weeks so I’m going to see an osteopath..

I had a lot of pain with my first. It was rough and I couldn’t breathe half the time. Mine was because my baby was so big and I’m short so he didn’t have room

I had costochondritus with my first, as the baby grows and pushes all your organs up it can scratch the tissue/ muscle in rib cage causing inflammation. Nothing I could do other than wait for inflammation to go down and just accept baby was rearranging my insides! 🙄🥺🫣 x

I keep seeing posts/tiktoks/instagram reels saying late November babies are being born early like now early and for the last few days my braxton hicks have been terrible. I think I’m also leaking my mucus plug but not sure.

First ever pregnancy the baby was too big, this pregnancy the baby is too small
Last time I got induced and did labour til we reached 10 centimetres but the baby just didn't want to come out,
(at 42 weeks I might add)
so after pushing for so long and 2 doctors later
Emergency C-section it was... On the 25th of May 2025
This time I am hoping for a vbac but they want to induce me at 38weeks this weekend
(so 17 month difference)
because the baby seems to be growing smaller than usual, placenta blah blah blah
Hopefully I can push this baby out or am I being delusional? Lol any thoughts are welcome, I'm based in UK, London

Hey I’m 26 weeks pregnant with my first baby and have been going to the Royal Women’s for my appointments so far, but I have moved recently and now Sandringham is my closest hospital (only a 10 minute drive vs a 30 minute drive to the Women’s). I’m in two minds whether to transfer or not. I have a low risk pregnancy as it stands, but I just want to go to the hospital that will be the best and the best experience. My logic was Royal women may have more competent / skilled staff and can support in any scenario to keep going there. But I’ve also been given advice that Sandringham might be a calmer, more relaxed (less cattle-like) experience of a big hospital and potentially less people in a room post birth. I know being relaxed is so important to a birth experience and perhaps the shorter journey could make a big difference. I would love to hear from mothers who birthed at either regarding their experience (I also hear Sandringham recently switched management so not sure how that’s going). Also any tips on how important the 10 min vs 30 minute drive drive will be when it comes to the big day!
