I’ve been prescribed 25mg sertraline at 5 weeks due to extreme anxiety.
My anxiety is making me question whether or not I can go through with pregnancy, before I was pregnant I was sure I wanted a baby so I’m hoping it’s now just my mental health that is making me unable to see a light at the end of the tunnel.
I’m petrified of bumps, needles, hospitals, and definitely birth.
Does anyone have any experience with sertraline? I am hoping this is going to help me but I’m scared it doesn’t.

Hey! I just wanted to say I hope things get better for you 😢. I’m 28 weeks and considering starting sertraline now as my anxiety and panicking has gotten much worse, but I did consider it at the beginning and things got better for me after the 1st trimester.
I’ve been on sertraline before and it made me feel slightly worse or the same for a few days/ weeks and then gradually I felt the effects and it helped me personally a lot. Is there anyone in the antenatal team that you can speak to as sometimes the perinatal mental health team can see you and speak through things to help 🤍🤍

I was taken that same meds before during after my pregnancy an it really help me

Sending hugs. Sertraline can sometimes makes things worse the first 4 weeks before then getting better.
I started on it postpartum and it definitely helped me. It took a while to work but it does. Mine was more depression symptoms though but anxiety as well.
A lot of those questions both post natally and during pregnancy are quite common if you have anxiety.
It is your mental health making you feel like this. When you’re in the depths of it sucks and feels endless but it does not last.
I know everyone says it gets better. But everyone says it because it is true.
If UK based Have you got the perinatal mental team involved?

I was on Sertraline 50mg every other day with my first pregnancy and it helped but be kind to yourself, your body is doing one of the hardest things right now. I got pregnant very quickly after my first and came off it during my second pregnancy and still off it! It does take a few weeks to take effect though so stick with it if it doesn’t seem to be helping after a few weeks I would ask to up it. Whatever you decide you got this 💖

I have 2 little ones (2 year old girl and a 10 month old boy) I personally cannot do pregnancy. I was on sertraline for both pregnancies and really struggled with my mental health with both. My little girl i didn't feel a connection with her and was under perinatal care for 8 months (till she was 6 months old plus a bit during my pregnancy). Some people cant do pregnancy and that's totally normal and not spoken about enough. I love my kids to pieces even if they drive me nuts. Obviously do what is best for you but I just wanted to share my story

I’m 34 and thinking about trying for a another baby, but I have quite a few worries and concerns, especially about my age and whether it might affect my chances of getting pregnant or having a healthy pregnancy. How was your experience? Do you have any advice or tips to help me feel less anxious about pregnancy at this age? ☺️✨
