I’m 8 weeks PP, I have 3 months full pay from work on maternity then I’ll be on SMP. I live with my partner and we have a mortgage together.
I have said to him let’s look at both our finances and work together. He tells me his finances and shows me on chat gbt (weird) and his app (self employed). What he won’t show me is his bank account and savings account. He says I should jsut trust him and it’s weird I don’t trust what he says.
I find he’s gas lighting me and has more money than he’s letting on.
But he says he can’t afford to look after me for the year with our baby. He says he’ll cover the bills, so gas and electric and water but I still gotta pay for the mortgage which is £400 a month so I’ll be left with 400 for the month which isn’t possible as I have car bills and food and such.
He drives my car to work and has used it for the majority of the year. I had to pay over 1k for its MOT and I asked to borrow £500 as I didn’t have the money but still had to give it back.
I don’t feel I’m looked after and he always says things he’s gonna do but never does. It’s like saying it and having the consideration is enough for him rather than doing it.
I don’t know what to do and every time we talk about finances it always blows up cause I don’t trust him. He’s saying I should be using my savings and not his.
Am I being unreasonable ? He called me a money grabbing bitch in the heated argument.
I jsut feel being single I’m better off at this point or am I being out fo order expecting him to pay for my year off?

I don't think you are being unreasonable.
I personally think couples should have completely joined finances whenever possible and definitely full financial transparency.
I think the best two ways to split bills between couples is
1. Joint account all income goes into it, from there all bills, food mortgage payments, car payment etc comes out.
With whatever is left you both decide how much you want to save. Then you also decide what each of you will get as "spending/allowance money" (which should be equal for you both)
2. The other way is for bills to be paid as a percentage of your incomes so if you bring 20% of the total household income you pay 20% of all the bills and he pays 80%.
But again this requires full financial transparency between the two of you.
And things like car bills should count as a household income. At the end of the day you both benefit from the car. Unless what he never uses it? More so now that you have children the entire family benefits so as a household you all pay.

Hi, I’m Zainab from Nigeria 🇳🇬. I’m 18, and I have a 1.5-year-old daughter. ❤️
I’m looking for a friend I can chat with regularly, call, share gossip and little moments with, and talk about anything and everything! 🥹💗
Please don’t comment if you’re going to ghost me 😂😭. Age doesn’t matter to me as long as we genuinely connect! And I don’t mind long distance
This is what I look like. 😊💕

I know we are in the depths of post partum but has anyone had thoughts on Christmas presents? We are keeping it low key because LO has zero idea what is going on but I wanted to still get something for his first Christmas. He is a second child so a lot of your standard baby toys we have but has anyone else got some ideas 🎄

Hi, has anyone had to deal with losing friends since having their little one and how do you deal with it? I am a massive overthinker and am struggling to just not get upset by it.
I am so lucky and loving every moment with my little one but struggling with not letting the loss of the friends affect me. Any advice welcome please

I am needing a mom BFF that is low maintenance and trying to figure out life with kids especially with more then one kiddo! My kids are 14 and almost 1! Need a mama that we can vent back and forth to each other, pick each other up, be motivators, not afraid to be opinionated.
