How are you feeding them, puree or BLW?

How soon after milk are you offering food?

Babies at 8.5 months dont eat much. Milk is still their main source. My son hated purees and spoons but loved holding things.

It wasnt until around 13/14 months that I noticed a massive change in food.

At 8mo I started with breakfast and skipped the morning milk offering it about 30 mins after trying food or when they were giving obvious hunger cues.

What does he want to eat? His usual milk? Maybe he is not ready yet for normal food. Some babies, especially boys, do take their time on reaching every new milestone. Mine one is 18 months and is a very fussy eater. He always was. He prefers his milk formula over anything else. He does tend to eat a bit more in nursery, probably because he sees other kids doing it.
Do your best and offer him a variety of foods so he can be curious and try. If all fails, maybe talk to your GP or health visitor. Is the food too spicy, or too hot, too cold? Is he having bad reflux?

One thing to check is the plate he is eating from. I used to use silicon ones and cutlery too until I noticed they absorbed the soap from the dishwasher and the food tasted horrible in them. I binned everything and got him metal plates or he eats from our usual plates with good quality cutlery for him too.

Toddler sucking thumb

Pleaseeee be honest because I’ve heard so many contradictions, does sucking thumb mess up toddlers teeth in future? If yes, how do I stop him doing it!?

Feeling deflated

For context I am a fully qualified early years teacher and I am more than competent in teaching and looking after my daughter.
We recently got a confirmation that our daughter can start nursery in 2028. (She will be 2) however I’ve realised I’m not comfortable with this (history of working in nursery’s and knowing what happens behind the scenes) and also I can simply do it all myself and I am happy to.
My husband tells me that he wants her to start nursery then and not stay home and let me care for her because she needs to go to nursery. I don’t understand why he would rather send her to be cared for by random people when I’m a stay at home mum and qualified to do it myself.
I also don’t really see how he gets much of a say in it (outside of just a general opinion) as it doesn’t affect him at all whether she is home with me or at nursery as I’ll be doing it all anyway? And he will be saving money if she doesn’t go…

Parents who have not sent their child to nursery can you comment experiences.

Feeling pretty down tonight

I am 36 and about to have my 3rd baby. The father and I didn't work out. I'm feeling pretty down about that tonight & idk how to lift myself up from it. I am almost 40 and have never had anyone actually choose me and love me and at this point I dont think I will ever feel that. Each of my kids have different fathers, the first isnt involved at all, the second is sporadically involved, and the third hasn't been there for me throughout this entire pregnancy. He's been around sure, but its only for the baby. He never actually chose to care about me. I'm just tired. Tired of always being dismissed or walked away from. Tired of having to spend this life fighting and surviving. Tired of not having anyone to turn to for support. I have no friends and hardly any family. I just feel so alone. & idk who is going to want me after having three children with three different fathers, plus having a newborn at 36 years old. . I just want it to end already.

Snacks

How many snacks are your LO on? And what sort of times are you offering them?
I'd love suggestions too as I'm stuck beyond banana and cheese 😂

First birthday

Has anyone started thinking about what they’re doing for their little ones first birthday? We were going to do a party but because I’ll have only just gone back to work we just can’t really afford it. Obviously we want to do something special. We live in Staffordshire if anyone has any ideas!
