Hi ladies! ❤️
I’m currently 5 weeks and a few days pregnant, and my first ultrasound isn’t scheduled until November 17, when I’ll be around 9 weeks.
Lately, I’ve been experiencing a dull ache in the middle and sometimes on the sides of my lower abdomen, almost like mild period cramps. I’m just wondering if anyone else experienced something similar this early in pregnancy.
Is this a common symptom? And did anyone else have to wait until 9 weeks for their first scan? I’m worried
Would love to hear your experiences! 💕

i had my first appointment at 11 or 12w. they asked me about cramping and i thought nothing of it and said yea before going to the bathroom. when i came out she wanted me to explain the cramping more to the doctor and i told her that while i was in the bathroom i realized (while squatting over the toilet) that its more of a sore feeling like i been working out not actually cramping. and occasionally some twinges. after that they were basically like ohh okay and moved on.
so id say the dull ache is fine but actual cramps could possibly be concerning

Yes, very common. Your body is going through a lot of changes already. Had the exact same with my first (healthy 9 month old now) and have the odd cramp now at 6 weeks pregnant with my second.
First scan is around 12 weeks in the UK. It is a very long wait.
Wishing you the smoothest pregnancy journey lovely! Xx

Dull aches are normal and part of the your baby growing and changes to your uterus. I had the same as well! I was worried and called the early pregnancy care unit and they booked me two appointments before my actual 12 weeks scan. The appointments included early scans to check that the baby was developing well and growing normal. I had two appointments which really did put my mind at ease and now i’m with a healthy 6 months old. So although the first scan is normally at 12 weeks you can request early scans to be completely sure that everything is ok . I’m sure you’ll be fine 💕
Hi, I had a c section 9 weeks ago. I was sterilized at the same time. I was discharged with a catheter because I couldn’t wee after the set time it was removed Two weeks later but I still have no sensation to go for a wee. Doctor referred me to the hospital to get checked over just wondering if anyone else suffered with this. And what the outcome was

Anyone want to share some cute or silly pics you've gotten of your July babies? I don't want to post my littles on other social media so posting here to share ☺️ this is a pic my wife got when she surprised the heck out of him, and I giggle every time I see it. Let's see some of yours!

Is anyone else seriously considering having an elective c-section in an otherwise uncomplicated pregnancy? Whenever I talk to friends/family or my OB, I’m always met with slight prejudice on the fact that I’m considering this. It seems like a universal understanding that vaginal births are always better. However, I’m really struggling to understand why. When I think about affects on the mother, I know that C-sections are major abdominal surgeries and recovery time is longer, however the recovery is only temporary. With a C-section you significantly decrease your risk in long-term pelvic floor dysfunction, and completely avoid the inevitability of tearing in any degree, stretching, and any long-term adverse side effects that come with that. In weighing if I’d rather have long term scar tissue in my abdomen or…elsewhere, the choice seems obvious. Secondly, there is no question that c-sections are safer for your baby. And for the mother, although going through major surgery, the procedure is completed in 60 minutes or less in a fixed amount of time in a highly controlled environment. No unknown hours of labor, and god forbid, if something did go wrong, you’re already in the environment to address anything. I’m frustrated that I consistently need to defend myself when the choice seems rather obvious. Am I missing something? Is anyone else experiencing the same push back or same thought process?
