Hi everyone; had an early scan today and baby is mesuring 6+4 with a healthy heart beat! Earlier than I expected thought i was 7+1. I had an internal scan and the sonogropher at the hospital was very nice. Anyone else got a high BMI as i have and have been put on a higher dose of folic acid. I know i wasnt the lightest before conception but leading up and now ive been eating so much healthier.. feel a bit deflated about the BMI thing im doing some gentle cardio too but have always struggled with weight- any tips would be great ❤️

I read that you should take higher folic acid with high BMI so I requested this from my doctor and got it prescribed. It’s just for the first 12 weeks then normal vitamins will be enough

I am on the higher dose as I was in my 1st pregnancy too. Never been a fan of following BMI because it doesn't account for height and muscle weight vs fat weight. I ended up losing so much weight during my pregnancy due to sickness that I only weighed about 7 or 8 lbs more when I was 9 months. As long as you eat a healthy diet during pregnancy it's all good. Plus because of my higher weight/bmi I ended up having more scans which calmed my nerves. X

Quick question as I haven’t had my midwife appt yet, are you still taking your vitamins or just the higher dose of folic acid?

I have a higher BMI and let me tell you it doesn’t stop at folic acid… there will be loads of things coming up that will be said basically everything is to do with it! You’ll probably have to have a gestational diabetes test etc. at the end of the day you just get better care but it does make you feel so conscious! Xx

Have they brought this back because in my 1st pregnancy I had to have higher folic acid , in my second they said they dont do it anymore and Ive got my booking appointment in 2 weeks but not been told I need the higher dose x
I’m due for my elective section in a weeks time at 40+3.
This is my first baby and after dreaming of a unmedicated vaginal birth, an induction is needed due to low Papp-a and this week i’ve finally chosen an elective section over induction for a few reasons (mostly mental and to have a good experience).
Firstly, what would you recommend? I completely understand healing/recovery is so much harder with a section but I think I’m willing to risk the physical impact than the mental impact of emergency/induction.
Secondly, recovery tips please! I have an extremely supportive partner who will make sure I do everything by the book to recover✨

I was just taken to the hospital by ambulance early this morning. I have never been in so much pain in my life. I woke up out of dead sleep to feeling like I was getting stabbed in my upper center stomach and someone was twisting the knife. I was screaming and throwing up and nothing was helping I couldn’t even get in the car for my fiancee to drive me so ems and cops had to come. They ended up giving me a low dose of fentanyl and it helped me so much. We did blood tests urine tests ultrasounds on my liver and gallbladder all for them to say “he must of just kicked you hard”. I’m 32 weeks pregnant and been feeling him kick me since 16 weeks. This was not that. I felt so dismissed something felt wrong I wasn’t hoping for something to be wrong but at least I would have gotten an answer to what caused me to be in that much pain. I feel okay now I’ve been sleeping all day but am so sore tired and scared it’s going to happen again. It was constant pain so wasn’t contractions. I just feel so defeated and can’t wait to never be pregnant again for the rest of my life.

I have been sleeping on my sides as per recommendations but every night throughout the night I wake up multiple times because my hips feel like they’re bruised from laying on them. I have a pregnancy pillow and whilst it is comfortable I feel like it’s doing nothing?! Any recs would be great please

So we had our first section on Monday although this is baby 3 for us. I knew the recovery was going to be worse but did really know what to expect! I go home last night and I am struggling so much to even just stand up straight to get up to go to the bathroom. Now I’m home I don’t have the same hand rails and stuff they did at the hospital which obviously helped so much more than I realised! I’m not able to lie on My side at all which is really annoying as that’s how I usually sleep is that normal? Any advise from people who have been through it just to make the recovery easier? I feel sofa stuck and like moving just makes everything hurt

Hey everyone!
I’m currently 2 weeks post second section and am having a horrendous time. I just want to see what other people’s experiences were with their recovery second time around. My BP is spiking I’ve been in and out of hospital and then I have a wound infection and am currently taking antibiotics. Just feeling a tad lonely atm only so much my partner can understand, although he has been amazing!
Share away please ❤️❤️
