Birthday invitation etiquette

We’re doing a soft play party for my son’s 4th birthday, and I just wondered what people’s views are on inviting a friend’s sibling.

We have to pay per head and there is a max number of for the party room.

One of my son’s friends has a 3 year old brother (who we don’t really know or see) but should we still invite him along?

Im sure ill get some interesting feedback on this but whenever we invite someone we always ask if they'll be bringing any siblings along. We do set the expectation that activities will obvs be oriented to whatever age my kid is turning but I do include them in activities/food served. This comes from my own situation where I have a 10month old and no childcare before 13 months when her nursery starts so I actually have no option but to bring my LO to whichever party my 4yo is going to. Unless we divide and conquer with my hubs but we usually make a day outing from it. I also always offer to pay for my 10month old and all the parents who were bringing a sibling were always offering to pay as well.

I’ve played it by ear - there’s not a general invite for siblings but some people have asked if they can come, and also offered to pay. I waited to get RSVPs and worked out there were a few spare places going, and offered those to people who asked. I also decided not to take the money but I appreciated the offer.

My son is having a soft play party and I invited people from his class and some of his little friends outside of nursery. I included the siblings from his friends outside of nursery because we see them more often and I know about them but his nursery friends I don’t know whether they have siblings. I did actually have a mum ask me if my sons friend brother could also attend and I said yes only because I had the space but if I didn’t I would have said no but that’s just purely on the space of the place. I feel like you shouldn’t feel obligated to invite siblings especially if you don’t have the space for them or if your son doesn’t see or really know them.

Hope it helps xx

We’re doing the same for our twins tbh I’ve invited some of their nursery friends and just wait on the replies if the parents ask to bring a sibling then my answer is yes. If they don’t ask I don’t naturally offer as if everyone has 2-3 siblings I’d be screwed 🤣🤭🥰

Recovery

I’m due for my elective section in a weeks time at 40+3.

This is my first baby and after dreaming of a unmedicated vaginal birth, an induction is needed due to low Papp-a and this week i’ve finally chosen an elective section over induction for a few reasons (mostly mental and to have a good experience).

Firstly, what would you recommend? I completely understand healing/recovery is so much harder with a section but I think I’m willing to risk the physical impact than the mental impact of emergency/induction.

Secondly, recovery tips please! I have an extremely supportive partner who will make sure I do everything by the book to recover✨

Bleeding for ten days!

Hi ladies, I’m 7 weeks postpartum and wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar.

My postpartum bleeding had mostly stopped around 4 weeks, and after that I only had discharge. On 18 October, at about 6 weeks postpartum, I started noticing very light spotting. It continued lightly on Monday, then seemed a little heavier from Tuesday onwards. It’s still light enough that a liner has been fine, but it has gradually increased. I’ve also had some abdominal pain.

I saw my GP today, and she’s arranged a pelvic ultrasound to check what’s going on. She said it could possibly be retained tissue, or it could be my period starting, but we don’t know yet.

Has anyone had similar bleeding around this point after giving birth? What did it turn out to be?

The waaaaaaait 🫠

How are you ladies surviving between scans? I’ve had a few private ones but a few days after having one I’m again going crazy in my head wondering if everything is ok and how am I not supposed to know for another ‘x’ amount of weeks!! Had a scan last Thursday and everything was perfect and we were told we are having a baby girl.. but I just wish there was a way to check in with them every day 😅 especially since I’m not feeling anything yet..

Any thoughts welcome from first timers or those that have managed this crazy phase before 🫶🏼

I have been sleeping on my sides as per recommendations but every night throughout the night I wake up multiple times because my hips feel like they’re bruised from laying on them. I have a pregnancy pillow and whilst it is comfortable I feel like it’s doing nothing?! Any recs would be great please

First time section mama

So we had our first section on Monday although this is baby 3 for us. I knew the recovery was going to be worse but did really know what to expect! I go home last night and I am struggling so much to even just stand up straight to get up to go to the bathroom. Now I’m home I don’t have the same hand rails and stuff they did at the hospital which obviously helped so much more than I realised! I’m not able to lie on My side at all which is really annoying as that’s how I usually sleep is that normal? Any advise from people who have been through it just to make the recovery easier? I feel sofa stuck and like moving just makes everything hurt
