Holidays

My baby is due in January 14th and my husband and I live an hour and 20 from his family. We always spend Christmas with them (my family is in America), he has a big family it’s usually 15-20 people all in a small house for Christmas dinner / late night festivities. We’ve made the decision to skip it this Christmas as I would hate to catch something and end pregnancy/go into labor sick. I also don’t love the idea of spending the night somewhere at 36/37 weeks pregnant.

Is anyone else changing their holiday plans because of their January due date? We’ve also discussed limiting all social activities beginning mid December … is that extreme / crazy? I just can’t imagine being so pregnant AND sick 😭

Totally get where you’re coming from, this is my second and my first was late, I was going insane waiting for the baby, I went out lots but I didn’t stay anywhere, I wouldn’t want to be away from home and my comforts for that long that late in my pregnancy.

I'm due 26th Jan and still not travelling to see family for Christmas! Better be safe and have one less thing to worry about, not to mention it will be nice to have some final 'just us" time with my husband before baby arrives.

I’m due Jan 14th too and sad I can’t see my family (but I would have to
Fly back to Ireland and so of course can’t) . We are hopefully spending Christmas with his immediate family ( 8 people) who are about an hour away. They are being understanding that we probably won’t spend the night as I agree I don’t think I would sleep if not in our bed but also making that call closer to the time and won’t be going to all the Christmas parties this year!

If that's what feels right for you then 100% do that. I think everyone has to do what is right for them.

I'm planning on powering ahead with my Christmas plans (Center Parcs for a week at week 37 weeks) and hosting Christmas day 38+weeks 🤣 10 people total, but all close family who can crack on and help themselves to anything they need!

Anyone choosing a nursery?

Hi everyone 👋 I’m Georgia, a mum to an 18mo and doing some research into how parents choose their first nursery.

I’d love to chat to mums who are currently looking or have recently chosen one to learn where you looked for info, what helped and what’s been tricky.

It would be a half hour video chat with a 20 pound voucher as a thank you for your time.

If you’re interested, send me a message and I’ll share details. Thanks! 🙏

What do you do with your kids?

My husband and I have been arguing. I want to just do the trunk or treat. He wants to do traditional only. Last year we did neither (had a wedding), but every other year we do both. This year we agreed to only do one because we’ve got a lot going on. It’s been a heated debate since.

Gifts for 6 months olds

We are being inundated with questions for what we want for our 6 month old for Christmas. Any suggestions for toys or baby gear that has been absolute game changers for your 6 month - 1 years olds?

Meal Ideas.

Rice is usually our go to carb when it’s dinner time but lately my toddler is on a rice strike and will only eat his protein. What sides are you guys doing for dinner? My toddler will not eat mashed potatoes/ eats too much fries.

When’s the right time?

When is a good time to start buying things for baby? All I’ve bought is a hat and scared to buy anything more incase something goes wrong 😭😩 also any recommendations on affordable travel systems? I can’t justify spending so much money on a travel system that will grow out of most of the things by 6months-1 year.

Sick baby - baby daddy drama.

Am I going crazy? My baby has been sick for the last few days and I have not been getting sleep or taking care of myself cuz I have been too focused on him lately. After my man got home from work didn’t say hi or asked how I was doing just immediately got into the shower and was gone for 30 mins. I get it not a big deal but I feel like this is when we have a sick baby. Am I in the wrong for getting mad?
