I’ve been trying to harvest some colostrum for a week now every day and have only ever managed to get a tiny pin head amount out of one boob.
I’m honestly so deflated and it’s made me so upset every day as I’m not able to do it - does this mean I’m going to hate/not be able to breastfeed? It’s making me really sad every day when I’ve spent a hour a few times a day and just can’t get anything

I breastfed my first for 2 years 2 months with zero issues, when I was pregnant with her I collected 30-40 full syringes of colostrum in the final weeks of pregnancy and froze them.
Currently 39+1 with my second, I’ve tried hand expressing and I’m getting hardly 0.1ml out of both boobs after 20 minutes of effort. It’s definitely frustrating but I don’t doubt that I’ll be able to breastfeed again

I've never successfully got colostrum, and successfully fed two babies exclusively. Milk came 2-3 days post birth as expected and neither lost weight in 48 hours post birth so were receiving plenty of colostrum from the breast.

I looked into this before I started to harvest, there is no correlation between people who produce colostrum in pregnancy and success rates in breastfeeding.
This doesn’t make you any less of a mum or woman, every body is different, and it sounds like the anticipation of disappointment might be making you stressed/ anxious when expressing. All of the research shows that colostrum comes easier when you are as relaxed as possible. It’s likely that the pressure/ stress itself is the thing stopping you from seeing results. You are enough, you are wonderful, don’t let a stupid syringe make you feel any different ❤️

I’ve been going through the same I’m 37 weeks and 4 days and have been trying for the last few days and barely get 0.1ml which is a few drops. I feel like giving up but then feel deflated when I see people getting so much at this stage. It’s making me stress too about will milk come out post birth😭

I breastfed my first for over a year and never managed to harvest any colostrum pre birth !! As soon as she was born the midwife helped me and I had loads, ....please don't stress! 💕

Hey! I got ZERO colostrum when pregnant but baby latched first day and I BF for two years xx

I was struggling but I got the heating/cool breast pads and allowed my breast to warm up then attempted it and managed to get 7ml on a second attempt tonight - not sure if the heating element has helped.
On October 14th, I lost my old girl, Emma. My younger dog (Zeke) became very ill the night she passed. I thought he was mourning, but it soon became apparent that he was genuinely sick. He had exploratory surgery and they found lymphoma. I haven’t been able to process the grief from Emma’s death because I’ve been so caught up in saving Zeke. I’m so overwhelmed and sad. I don’t know how to balance being a mom, Speech & OT, losing my girl, and chemotherapy for my baby dog. I feel like I’m spiraling.

My 9 week old is exclusively breastfed. He has been struggling with poor digestion/gas/colic and I think he might have sensitivity to something(s) I am eating. Has anyone struggled with similar and tried any elimination diets? Or seen a particular specialist who has helped? Any advise to point me in the right direction much appreciated 🙏

I have a 5 week old who has honestly been eating me out of house and home. Formula fed and have had no issues until last night.
Last night was hell for trying to feed him, honestly he was inconsolable screaming and crying and wouldn't take a bottle, I only managed to get him to take some but lying him on his left side.
Since 7am he has only had 7oz, but honestly quite tired.
Health visitor was around this morning and thought reflux so we got carabel to thicken his milk but he is just really not himself
Very fussy, can only hold him a certain way, refusing bottles but not temp. Has a sore sounding throat but no cough and not sucking in when breathing but wasn't sure if it was the start of rsv

Hi guys.
I’m having a bit of a difficult time talking about my birth because I feel like I cheated it almost. It’s hard listening to other mamas stories and I feel like I didn’t do anything or much because of interventions. I had to be induced due to waters breaking and was put on the oxytocin drip - I then had the epidural because the contractions were crazy. They turned the drip off at some point because my body took over. Then the delivery… I ended up with an episiotomy and forceps. I just feel like I didn’t actually ‘give birth’ if that makes sense? Like I feel a bit embarrassed talking about it. Did anyone else have this feeling?

I’m 3 weeks pp. I have a second degree tear so had to get stitches. I’ve got My Expert Midwife bath salts and heard you can use them even with stitches but just wanted to double check. Has anyone used them before with a second degree tear? Does it sting as I’m terrified incase it stings when I go in!
