Are you all doing a urine sample at every appointment? I had my 25 week appt today and I wasn’t asked for one despite mentioning having issues with an achey bladder and trouble emptying it at times. I haven’t done one since my first appt at 9 weeks!
In my first pregnancy (same midwife team, same place etc) I did it religious EVERY time I saw anyone, even when I went in to triage for reduced movements for example. Just feels a bit weird especially as they put on my notes that it has been done.

It’s not like it’s sent off for any major testing, it’s literally a dipstick, Oo there’s a tiny bit of glucose in your wee, I know they do mine religiously but only because I went into dka without realising and that’s how they found it for my first.

That’s really odd. I have been asked for a urine sample at EVERY midwife appointment.
They say they just test it for sugar levels and something else. And if it’s all normal they just toss it. They only flag it if it’s unusual.
But it could also be because I’m south asian and therefore a higher risk for gestational diabetes?

Think they are meant to do that and your blood pressure each time as it can also pick up things like preeclampsia

I have mine done twice a week at every appointment. Although I am type 1 and higher risk of preeclampsia so maybe why but I would defo ask next time or just had them a sample

Very odd , I have to do one at every appointment, but I’m prone to UTI’s and also have a kidney stone so they have to keep a close eye on me and baby
Does anyone actually do the perineal massage? I’m 37 weeks and 3 days and to be honest, I’m struggling to get it done. I find it uncomfortable and when it comes to doing it after a bath/ shower, I just want to settle down and relax rather than do that 🥲 I obviously don’t want to have a bad tear either if I manage to have a vaginal birth. What are everyone’s thoughts?

So I had my 16 week midwife appointment today and she told me I needed to have 2 extra scans as I have a moderate placenta risk which was news to me 😩
This is my second pregnancy, first was twins I had scans every 4 weeks with them bur don’t remember them ever saying this with them. No history of preeclampsia in the family, BMI was ok at first appointment . 12 week scan they said everything was all good.
Midwife didn’t seem to know why… the only thing I can think of is my previous c-section with the twins or the fact I’m 33 and am an ex smoker/vaper however before this pregnancy I was only a light vaper… it surprised me a bit.
has anyone else had this?

I meet another single mum on mat leave and we kept in contact, kids going to the same nursery etc.
It was her little ones 3rd birth day so
I wished him happy birthday on what’s app. I only knew as she put it as a status.
She then messaged back with all the parties he’s having…. So I clarified if my little one wasn’t invited (I kinda don’t know why she was telling me as I didn’t ask).
She said no he wasn’t. I said no worries.
I told her I was hurt as I thought we were closer and that our kids did play together etc…. And she didn’t acknowledge my hurt feels but was just more practical saying she just wanted a smaller party.
Things haven’t been the same since and I don’t bother to message her etc but to be honest I was finding her behaviour a little odd anyway.
It’s now my son’s birthday, would it be ok if I invite her son or are they not close so I don’t bother?
I’m getting nowhere with nursery and his close friend has recently left for another nursery so I’m a bit lost.

My daughter was born 3 weeks earlier than her due date due to a low lying placenta, she’s not quite sitting up on her own just yet, do you think we need to wait before weaning her? She’s got good head control but just can’t sit unaided just yet.

Hello, yesterday at 26 weeks +2 , I felt quite a lot of something coming out from inside me, but it felt more like it was coming up from the top of my vagina rather than out of the vagina itself if that makes sense. I panicked as it felt that way where if you’re on your period and you’ve been sitting down a long time and you stand up and it’s like a big bit of blood comes out, so I wanted to check my pants. They were really wet, so I put a pad on and waited a few hours and then phoned triage for advice. They said it sounds a lot like discharge. If it had been my waters leaking my pad would be heavier, and as opposed to discharge, waters would soak into the pad and discharge just sits on top of the pad. I have also had a pad on today. The pad is a little bit wet on top, but it’s not drenched or anything like that. I don’t know if I’m just stressed now because I thought it could’ve been my waters yesterday, but please tell me other people are also experiencing being wet down there a lot to the point where their pants are wet???
