I know my opinion doesn’t matter, but I’m highly bothered. My nieces are 12 and 13. I’ve known them for 8 years and they have barely ever lived with their parents. Their parents have been separated most of their lives. They are still friends and get along, just don’t belong together and have often dated other people. Anyways, this last year, they were living with their dad’s sister. She couldn’t deal with them anymore, so they moved in with their dad’s girlfriend for a bit. They broke up, so lately, they have been living with some guy (my husband isn’t sure how they even know this older man or whose relative he is) during the week and with my in-laws (the grandparents) on the weekends.
My husband just told me today they’re moving in with their mom and her male roommate. My SIL has always surrounded herself with bad influences. She has done drugs, been an alcoholic, dated abusive guys. She has always put these things before her kids. I’m worried about them living with her because I’m afraid of their safety. Maybe I’m wrong and it’ll be okay. I know she loves them, but their safety has never been a concern for her in the past. Should I say something to my MIL about how I feel? And you’re probably wondering why we won’t take them in. We mentioned a few years back that we wanted to take them in and my MIL didn’t think it was a good idea because I struggle enough with my 2 under 7. She’s worried they wouldn’t listen to me and they would gang up on me (they’re sweet girls, they just struggle to follow rules like most kids their age), but they’re likely to rebel against their own mother as well. I don’t know where I’m going with this. My husband joked that I should tell my MIL how I feel about it, as if it’s going to change things and I know it won’t. I guess I just want my girls to be safe. They’ve lived a hard life already at their ages being passed around from house to house and guardian to guardian.

your instincts are completely natural, two lil teens around gross older men is trauma waiting to happen, even if nothing actually happens theyre still being exposed to wildly inappropriate shit & the instability alone would be enough to permanently damage them. Definitely talk to your mother in law and reiterate that youd be comfortable taking them in and maybe they could even babysit/help with their lil cousins which is a lovely age appropriate thing for them. Getting somewhere safe and positive will curb any dysfunctional coping/behaviour that this exposure could impart on them (drugs, hypersexuality, teenage opposition but worse).
Best of luck it sounds like those girls are lucky you're around.

Maybe who cares what MIL thinks and just take them in. You and your husband are adults & can probably formalise a kin-ship fostering situation so you and the girls could have additional support.

They need some stability and this may be the right time for you and your husband to come in. Wishing you the best if you end up housing and caring for them.
I have a question I’m going to have teeth extracted and my son is 15 months old, he eating regular food but I’m still breastfeeding for naps and bedtime. He refuses the bottle and barely drinks cow milk. I’m going to have IV sedation (anesthesia) the dentist said I can’t feed for 16 hours, I googled and it said I can feed and it will be fine. I know I should listen to the dr and I will but has anyone had any similar experience. Or know a dr to ask lol thank you guys in advance.

I have been married over 7 years, been with my partner over 10 years. We have everything, a beautiful daughter who is 8 months old, two dogs, big house, land. We get along great, don’t fight. We are a great team.
When I was 3 months post partum his brother and sister in law hadn’t come to visit our daughter. I thought it was odd since we would them and their two kids monthly. I try very hard with them to be around and apart of their lives. However they stopped talking to us. I reached out to her a few times but finally she told me the reason.
She said my husband 10 years ago would send her photos of himself. Like ask her if she were curious of him. She told him yes, she was.Tell her nice butt, send inappropriate messages- you get it. Ok so this happen a couple times a year…for FIVE years. Like he needed a boost of validation or felt insecure so he sent something to her? And she would give it to him. I had no idea. I did get weird vibes around her. I thought she laughed way to hard at him, looked at him too long ya know? Anyways I’m so upset she told and he didn’t…he said he was so embarrassed it even happened and he tried to tell me but would get scared. He came from an abusive family/lot of insecurity problems. I honestly don’t think she is very attractive not trying to be mean I am just not jealous of her…like yes I am post partum and not the most physically attractive I have ever been I just have more to offer than that, I feel very good about myself. He said he wasn’t physically attracted to her, he just got attention from her.
Anyways I love my husband. We are no longer going to see his brother and sister in law, not very difficult since his brother doesn’t have anything to do with the rest of my husbands family. Just wondering your thoughts. Is this forgivable? Obviously I am hurt. My daughter at the time I found out was 3 months old I had way too much on my plate to deal with him crying at me about how he is so sorry and didn’t realize it was cheating…he hadn’t done this in over five years. He started seeing a therapist to work on himself. He listens to pod casts and self help audio books. I love him and thought we had such a great thing. I don’t want to give that all up but wtf that was his brothers wife. It’s like he pretended she was someone else. Cuz he wouldn’t act weird around her. I never got that vibe from him.

Met with my in laws a couple of weeks ago and prior to this I messaged my mil politely asking for her not to share any photos of my son on her Facebook. This is because she has blocked me and also has no privacy settings so anyone could see them. A couple of days after it emerged she had posted photos so I messaged again asking for them to be deleted. Nothing changed so my husband then messaged her. She then tried arguing against our reasons why and still hasn’t deleted them. I’ve now messaged a 3rd time which has been ignored. She is being so disrespectful to us and the boundaries we are setting for our children. She fell out with me earlier in the year and sent the most awful messages about me to my husband and then directly to me too. I don’t really want anything more to do with them but have no choice so her behaving like this just isn’t helping the situation at all. It’s so rude she’s ignoring my messages and I don’t understand why she can’t delete the photos and respect what both of us are asking. I don’t know what we do to get her to take them down

If your husband had spent $$$ on random gambling apps, lost $$$ before, promised to you he would never do it again, money has been super tight because you are currently moving houses, and you literally were skipping meals to make sure the kids ate, cut your hair to use less shampoo and conditioner, started using only $2 shampoo and conditioner, was watering down your leave in conditioner, stopped buying makeup, skin care, clothes, didn’t even go to a salon for a year, stopped buying anything for yourself, even have been wearing the same one pair of sandals for a year…..and you see this show up in the transactions of yours and his bank account while he’s at work what would be going through your head???? Because I’m absolutely livid……

Today my fiancé has taken our daughter out for a daddy-daughter date (and to give me a break as I look after her pretty much 24/7). We dont have family nearby and he s working during the week so it is truly me and her 24/7 other than when he is home before and after work. She is 4 months, EBF and, bless, a terrible sleeper so I often feel exhausted. I love her so much and love being her mummy, but I do also look forward to when he is home and takes her out for a little bit. I feel silly cos now they're out and.. i miss her🥹 i am so so thankful my fiancé takes her out to give me a little break. Im not complaining at all!! I just feel silly missing her when I also look forward to a break so much 😂

Help I feel like I’ve tried everything! My toddler hates either getting dressed for the day, or undressed into their pajamas. They also hate having their nappy changed. Basically anything to do with transition from one outfit to another. They hysterically cry and runs away, it’s sorta heart breaking. But at the same time sometimes they can be half crying, half laughing so I know they are also just trying it on to be cheeky.
I’m now resorting to black mail and using tv and sweets.
So basically I think at this point I just want anyone to tell me this is just a typical toddler phase and it’ll pass??? Unless you’ve got some crazy good advice for me then I’ll be forever grateful ☺️
