My baby is 8 days old today.
My brother and family are desperate to meet him.
But my brothers wife and child had a diarrhoea and vomiting bug when I spoke to him yesterday but he said they had been clear since early hours of morning.
Then this morning my mum told me he is planning on travelling up to see baby at weekend (they live 2 hours away).
Ive said id rather him not visit as been unwell this week and i’d rather be safe than sorry.
Am i being over the top?

It's your baby so your choice. However, with vomiting and diarrhea, there is a 48 clearance window. So when the last person has vomited or had diahreea, they shouldn't visit for at least 48 hours. If they haven't had anything (and I mean anything) since this morning, then then should be clear by Friday Morning.
However, if anyone is sick again, the 48 hours restart.
I personally would ask your brother to be super honest. My son/husband have a vomiting and diarrhea bug when I was due (literally, I was due 14th, my son was sick 14-17th, my husband after that). Luckily baby came late and it had passed, but babies do come into contact with virus and are mostly fine. I just wouldn't chose to expose a baby x

I think you follow your instincts. Its not necessarily about even the baby getting ill but anyone in your household getting unwell with baby will be hard. The baby isn't going anywhere if he has kids he should hopefully understand your boundaries waiting a few days/ a week won't change much.

I have not had any visitors since we came out of the hospital over a month now am trying to wait until baby is vaccinated first…. It’s causing lots of tension in the family but I prefer to be safe than sorry
Thanks everyone. Yes it was only yesterday i spoke to him and he was telling me that his wife snd eldest daughter were unwell with it.. and he was doing all the running around for them etc so he wasnt seeing anyone.
Then today total u turn and told mum he is coming up weekend which immediately filled me with dread 🤣
My LO is only a week old and id probably feel better if someone os a week clear at least but i cant help but feel like im being an over protective nutjob 🤪🤣
how is everyone surviving no sleep? my baby is 7 weeks old i get max 2-3 hours a night and i wake up i have no energy, im getting ppd and what helps me is going out for walks/doing fun things, but i cant seem to bring myself to get up lately because i am so exhausted and my body wont let me, i co sleep with my baby due to him having really bad reflux and he will not sleep in his bassinet/next to me crib, not even for ten minuites, but co sleeping with me he manages 2-3 hours. i have a toddler aswell but her dads having to have her a lot more as im getting ill from exhaustion.

He’s really fussy and screams a lot. Please tell me it gets better? I’ve read some people say by 12 weeks. I don’t think I’ve got 12 weeks in me. I’m seeing the mental health team but I need some reassurance. Just because today has b b bad does it mean tomorrow will be?

I don’t think I realized how much fear I have been holding on to since my son was born cause of the political situation in our country. I haven’t been able to stop crying all morning. Nothing has changed really but also everything has changed. I feel a glimmer of hope that my baby will grow up in a more tolerant, safe, protected country. It won’t be perfect but it won’t be so dark and hard. I feel insane for the amount of emotion pouring out.

Babygirl is 5 months 12 days / 23 weeks, 4 days.
She goes to sleep between 6-7pm, wakes up between 6-7am. She has a 7oz bottle in the morning, then sleeps usually anytime between 8:30/9 for about 30-45 minutes. Then she will have another bottle at some point in the morning, 6oz, then a nap early afternoon 1-1:30pm ish. Then another 6oz. Then she naps sort of 4-5pm and then has a 7oz after her bath before bed. She sometimes has another 6oz in the afternoon if she asks for it. She sleeps through the night so her daytime naps are all over the place.

Ive got mixed opinions so far, so I’m interested to know what you new mums do or would do.
When fuelling up your car / nipping into Tesco express just for a pint of milk, baby is sleeping in the carseat. Do you leave baby in the car for the literal 2 minutes your gone and just ensure car is locked, or get the whole pram / car seat system out and take baby with you?

Where does your 6.5 month old sleep during the night?
