Scar care and massages

Hi everyone, I’m 6 weeks post emergency c-section and as you can imagine, the 6 weeks check up with the GP was rather useless.

I’m looking at ways to best look after my scar to minimise it, the shelf and re gain normal sensation on and around the scar.

I’ve heard of massages, scar tape, silicone gel … What is it that you do for your scar? Also can I now put body lotion on it? The skin around the area is very dry and flaky as I’ve been avoiding it a lot.

In terms of scar tape, I have time at home but I’m worried it’ll be too sticky and hard/painful to remove, also I have hairs lol on the actual scar since I didn’t plan for it and wasn’t shaved there when it happens and around the scar so I’m worried it’ll pull on my hairs each time I have to remove it. It did with the dressing they put on, it wasn’t nice to remove after 5 days …

Anyway, just your scar care routine and tips would be useful please ☺️

The frida mom scar patches are good, I used them with my first and will use them again when I’m healed from my current c section x

As a massage therapist, massage around the scar it’s so important to help stimulate the area again. Have a look into lymphatic massages too as they will massively help the healing etc.

One of my clients showed me the C Section Correction online and it’s a pack that has everything you need. I’m going to get one for when I’ve had my section x

Im 21 pp and what I did pretty early after getting checked by GP is a mummy MOT which a lot of physiotherapist/ostheopaths do. You get your scar checked, you stomach for diasis recti and all that. They should then provide some simple (I really do me simple) exercises to help with deep core rebuilding and scar massages to help. Its the kind of check I think all women should have after birth but unfortunately don't. It really helped me understand recovery post csection more

I had to use savlon cream and my own bandages as I had a reaction to the ones the hospital gave me, it was bad,
After healed I did gentel physio exercises, that I have continued, my stomach is straitening out now, I use olive oil, coconut oil or aveno cream to stop the itching,
I personally don't mind the scar as it says my Phoebe was here, she gave me no stretchmarks so im happy I have something, still my other 2 gave me more than enough stretchmarks lol,
Its the itching that botheres me.

She’s here 🎀

So after a 40 minute birth, not making it to the hospital & out in 2 pushes my darling girl is finally here. Was hoping for a VBAC and had a c section booked in for today. Labour started spontaneously 🥹 couldn’t be more grateful 🩷

I can't do this (31w1d)

I have no quality of life. I can barely get around in my home because I'm always in pain and exhausted. Tylenol is a joke as pain relief. I have severe HG and am about to start a medication made for fucking cancer patients. I have so many complications and I'm so tired. Someone please tell me there's an end in sight

GDM and small baby

I got diagnosed with gestational diabetes and when I had my growth scan my baby was too small. Does anyone have any advise on how to increase my baby’s size without effecting my GDM.

My family don't like baby's name

I love my baby boys name, my friends love it and my siblings too. Everyone else in my family are not crazy about it and keep saying because of its strong African sounding-ness baby will be judged and loose opportunities in the future blah blah blah.
For an African family we've got pretty bland European favoured names with our African born day names.

I respect their opinions but I love the name my other children love the name and I'm very happy to keep it.
I'm married to a European with middle easter roots and they'd prefer if we went down the Mediterranean style of name.

It makes me frustrated and sad because people in UK and maybe abroad favor names like George, Charlotte, Sarah, James I can't branch out? It's ridiculous we have artists with tough Russian or Germanic even Polish names which everyone just gets on with but something more African inspired isn't okay?

Baby hasn't got a birth certificate or official documents yet. Should I keep me baby's name which he's used to and his siblings? Or shall I confirm and listen to my elder family members and change it to a European favoured name?

I'm 95% sure I want to stick to my guns, after all on this pretty traumatic & difficult pregnancy journey it was only myself I could rely on and therefore who has the right to try and "re name" my baby?

Advice welcomed thanks 😊

Visiting family; do I take hospital bags?

I’m 35 weeks and going to stay with some family 2 and a half hours away. Should I take the car seat and hospital bags just in case? Not high risk or expecting earlier arrival. Is my first baby so likelihood is to go over but who knows 😅
