Hard belly

Hey can anyone tell me if it’s normal to have such a hard belly???

I’m almost 36 weeks and have a very tight belly a lot of the time. I’m getting quite constipated so think it could be this and I’ve now got the bulge where his butt is but everything feels quite tight and feel concerned as I’m the first to be pregnant in family and friend groups and I don’t really know what to expect at this time…

Any help is appreciated 🩵

I think at 36 weeks it can be quite normal, if it comes and goes could be braxton hicks x

Yes, this is completely normal, hun. It could be Braxton Hick’s as someone has said (not sure why your midwife said this isn’t common in first pregnancies, it is).

It could also be that you have strong ab muscles and your abdominal wall is holding your bump up tighter, which makes it feel firmer. This was the case for me, my bump was hard and tight in my third trimester and sitting high.

My Consultant and midwives would tell me I have a strong core and that I was lucky ‘cause I’d “snap back” quickly, which I didn’t care about at the time, I just wanted a safe delivery. Lo and behold, after having my baby, my stomach was flat after 3 days, so they knew what they were talking about. Maybe you have strong core muscles, too x

Anyone else more nervous for the birth the second time around?

I wasn’t really worried the first time around (4.5 years ago), this time I’m feeling a bit nervous already. I think because I know more this time

Ugh

36 weeks and my body feels like shit. I also have an appointment tomorrow to see if he’s still breech. I honestly can’t tell just by feeling my stomach. Haven’t finished his nursery because I have no energy. Anyone else kind of in the same boat?

Has anyone had preeclampsia with a previous pregnancy?

I had preeclampsia in my first pregnancy and delivered at 33+6 and my girlie spent the first 11 days of life in NICU. I’m nearly 26 weeks now and BP has been fine up to now, been on aspirin since 12 weeks and have growth scans at 32,36 and 40 weeks with consultant appointments after these. Not yet decided on VBAC or C section yet but interested to hear others experiences
