Hey mamas,

I’m reaching out here because this community always feels like a safe space. Lately, I’ve been struggling a lot more than usual with anxiety and depression, and it’s been feeling pretty heavy like laying on the floor sobbing for hours heavy. I was doing okay for a few weeks and then it started up again. I feel like I’m failing my son and now showing up for him because I’m always so sad or anxious

My doctor and I have been talking about options, and Sertraline (Zoloft) came up as a potential next step. Before making a decision, I wanted to ask if anyone here has been prescribed Sertraline? I’d love to hear what your experience was like—especially around how it made you feel starting out, how long it took to notice a difference, or any tips you wish you knew beforehand.

Sending love to anyone else who might be in the thick of it right now, too. Thanks so much in advance for sharing your stories! xx

i was on it once as a teenager and now at 3 mos pp. i felt a difference within a week this time. i struggled sleeping for a couple nights but got more rigorous about just doing something to fall asleep ie read for a bit, then i slept easily and the insomnia never came back. i went on them probably a month or so ago and i'm really glad i did. i still feel a little down sometimes but it's much rarer now, and collapsing on the floor in tears and hopelessness is totally gone. pp is a really hard period, i would suggest giving it a try and if you do have an adverse reaction you can always stop. but i've been on a few antidepressants in my time and in my experience sertraline interferes with everything else - including being able to feel happy - the least while cutting off the most of the despair.

here to answer any qs you might have or just chat ☺️

I wasn't on Zoloft, but I was on another antidepressant for about 5 years. The way I explained it was that it didn't fix anything, but it gave me the bandwidth to cope. And sometimes that's exactly what we need—a little extra ability to get through the day.

I'm coming up to a month PP and am considering getting back on meds. The anxiety is manageable but... Every bit of energy I'm using to cope is energy I could use to play with and care for my baby.

As far as side effects, I did a good amount of research about my med. It wasn't Zofran, but for the one I was on, there were several "red flag, stop taking this and talk to your doctor" side effects (never got those), then there were "adjustment" side effects that went away after about 1-2 weeks. I did, in fact, have a number of side effects those first two weeks, but they all faded by week 3. If they hadn't, I probably would have asked to try something different.

I was prescribed zoloft by my OB like right after my first maternity visit. I was in a bad mental space before pregnancy and the hormones just amplified it. I started off on a very low dose and only used 50mls my whole pregnancy and while it didn’t completely solve all my problems, it definitely helped ease some of the tension with my anxiety. I at least was able to get some sleep at night!
After giving birth, I was SO much better than I ever was before and during pregnancy that I actually stopped taking it about a week ago. I was skeptical when she first prescribed it as I was hesitant to medicate myself and alter my brain in that way, but I don’t think I would have survived my pregnancy without it, even just the baby dose I was taking.
It maybe took a week or two before I noticed a real difference. I basically was just able to tackle problems without overthinking or spiraling over them.

Signs of autism 2 year old

My child had just turned 2 recently and we're approaching next health review and I am unsure of certain behaviour that he's showing sometimes.

He's speaking walking etc no concerns here however not always he's reacting to his name, not always he's pointing, sometimes walking on tip toes, sometimes flapping his hands.

Online says that those are normal signs and nothing to be concerned until they're 3.

What are your experience in that matter should i be worried?

He's with me at home no nursery however everyday we're at playgroups.

Nappy sizes

Unsure what to do for nappy sizes. My bubba is currently in size 4 nutmeg and rascals but they're both tight and not fitting around her hips very well. She's also 8.5kg weighed last week.

Any ideas on what we should do?

Cluster feeding

My baby is currently 3 weeks old and he is almost all day and night on my breast. Sometimes he feeds for an hour and 10 minutes later he wants more. He is gaining weight properly. Breast is the only way to make him calm. I am very tired. Does anyone have a similar experience?
