Traveling ✈️

Has anyone traveled with a 1 year old on a plane? I’m taking my first trip to Texas to see my family and it will be my little ones first plane ride and I’m curious to know on your experience, what I should take or what to prepare for.

We’ve traveled with our son a few times. Once to Mexico at 9 months, twice to Florida at ages 1 year and 2 year. Bring a bag of random things to entertain him. We went to the dollar store and just got a bunch of random stuff. We also packed a lot of snacks, his paci and blankie, books, iPad. Then be prepared to entertain him the whole flight haha We have worked ourselves up for each flight, but they’ve always been fine. We are taking the ultimate test and flying to Iceland with him this summer. His longest flight at 6 hours!! 😳😳😳 Good luck and have a fun trip!!

Prepare for the worst but know that it will be fine. My daughter who was 6 month and we went from Florida to California was fussy but did fine. Made sure I had a bottle during change in pressure of take off and landing. I also had a tablet! I hate screen time with kids but it can be a life saver in these situations. Even a video on your phone might help. Amazon sells tablets cheap and you don’t need internet if you download the movie. I was lucky that my daughter got a lot of attention and people were kind and understanding.

I’ll never forget our first time Flying. My son had an explosive poop as we boarded the plane 😩😩😩. Other than that KY went great. Along with snack and toys he really enjoyed the play dough... kids can play quietly with that for hours. Good Luck !!!! I’m sure It’ll all be fine

The Lucie’s List website has an ebook with tons of practical details about how to fly with a baby, I found it super helpful!

We did cross country OH to CA with layover in CO when my daughter was 10mos. I nursed her during take off/tough down and she didn’t seem to mind. We also did lots of snacks and tablet (downloaded Netflix movies). We did her (and again when we travelled when she was 18mos and 7 mos sister) as lap infants and checked out car seats with bags. Then gate checked stroller to help corral the girls and bags (all free by the way!!!) a carrier is also a life saver to keep them compact and you hands free to navigate. Stroller and carrier were life savers during the connector to quickly move around.

Our kids have traveled since they were 1yo and all I have to say is prepare for the worse!! As much as we would have loved to save money not buying a seat for them (at 1yo) we opted to buy them a seat and it actually worked out because we could lay them down or place their car seat in so they could sleep. Bring lots of snacks and something for them to do.

I’ve travelled with my son since he was super young. Bring everything. The one time you decide to shortchange on diapers for room for something else is when your flight is delayed! Also, I don’t remember if you can bring bottles of water thru TSA in a diaper bag, but if not, buy a bottle from the gift shop. It will help with potential accidents, mixing the formulas.

Lots of airports have a lactation room. Some of them have a changing table, rocking chair or other things like that. Traveling with my son at 2 months it was nice just to have a quiet place to relax between flights or before getting the checked bags.

To start off I flew to Honduras with my 1 year old, and to be fair she is a SUPER easy traveler. I just always had a little baggy of snacks or some of those squeeze applesauce packs and a book or a stuffed animal. She slept most of the time because we usually travelled at night. Remember the majority of people are very understanding of people that have Littles. Any time she did really good on a flight they would say “wow she’s a really good traveler”. At any moment she was getting squirmy or loud they would (most of them) say “no worries” or “ oh she’s totally fine”. With the people who are total grumps about it just apologize and move on, no need to feel bad about yourself because it happens! And you’re trying your best!

I'm visiting my husband overseas with my 15 month old in June. It's been forever since I flew with a little one. Definitely lots of snacks and entertainment. Just got her passport in today. Getting excited. Have a great trip and tell us how it went when you get back

I took my 8 month old and 3 yr old. I nursed my 8 month old during takeoff so her ears wouldn’t pop. And I gave my 3 yr old headphones and my phone with a movie so it wouldn’t hurt his ears. They were good the whole way. And it was a 4+ hr flight.

Bring another adult. 😂😂. Don’t be afraid to ask flight attendants for help. Good luck!

Traveled with our first born internationally since she was three months. Got harder as she got older. When she just turned two, on the flight from LA to Sydney, she kept trying to run past that curtain that separates the compartments, thinking that was the way off the plane. About to fly Atlanta to Sydney with both kids, oldest will be three and youngest will be six months. Think it'll be OK, except I'm flying back solo (husband needs to come back early), so it'll be me with two kids, Perth to Sydney to Dallas to Atlanta.

Just do it! It’ll work out one way or another. We just moved interstate and hubby drove down while I flew with our 20 month old and 3.5 year old while 35 weeks pregnant.
Wouldn’t do it for fun but if you have to you just do it 👍🏼

We’re traveling next week, it’s my daughter 3rd flight in the 5 months. Make sure to bring snacks and things to keep your little one entertained. And I’ve found that if you book travel during nap or sleeping times it’s great. On our first flight across the country she did great, coming back.... weelll we both cried. She had a meltdown and I couldn’t get her to stop. Now I just make sure to keep her entertained or do red eye flights. Our trip to Jamaica was sooooo long, but she slept every time so that was great.

Good luck!! Also check Pinterest for ideas. That’s what I do.

Is this normal?

Is it just my husband that does this? He is able to work from home via his computer and in the mornings and evenings he is on there doing his job. When he is done for the day he tends to stay in the room and either play video games or watch something. He will occasionally come out and play with the girls for a few minutes and that’s it but when I really need him he says he is busy. My daughters are both 1 year old now and I am just wondering how much involvement should he have with them now?
Idk if this is the norm or not…..

5 month old activities

Hey everyone my baby is 5 months old and I want to reduce/cut screen time as I have read up on how bad it is what activities did people do to keep their baby entertained. Thank you in advance.

Tablet for kids

Alright don’t need any negative Nancy’s telling me not to get my 2yo a tablet so if that’s what your gunna do please don’t participate in my poll.

We’re about to move cross country 3+ day trip and my 2yo and 9m hate the car I’m talking scream their heads off till they are out of their seats. We’ve already changed car seats and it didn’t help so I’d like to at least have one entertained and sit next to baby and try and distract her or put her to sleep. Our new car has tvs but since they are rear faced my 2yo can’t see it.

Debating getting her a tablet or dvd player right now on long car rides I end up giving her my phone because I get so overwhelmed sitting in between both of them screaming and crying.

And yes I do bring different toys I bring snacks I play songs try to distract her other ways but for the sake of not losing my mind on this move I think this is best.

-A very overwhelmed and anxious to move mama 😓

Daycare?

Thoughts on daycare?? Truly, I am SCARED to be leaving my kid for daycare. I literally do not trust anyone, not even family (they haven’t given me a reason it’s just trust issues on my end, you never know). He’s turning 3 and I’ve been a sahm the whole time but tbh my man doesn’t make enough for us to move out somewhere more calm . We live in a ‘not so safe’ area in LA and I’m just not used to living here so I just want us to give my son a better life and in order to speed up the process I would have to work.. I do lashes at home and I’d be open to take new clients so I wouldn’t have to look for work but I’m just scared to lose my license 😭
