What was your water birth experience?

I was considering a water birth, but I'm worried about all the stuff that may come out of you during birth and labor just floating around in the water with you.

Anyone who has done a water birth, what are your experiences? Did you find it gross in the moment or did you not care?

Laboring in the tub is amazing-
However professional opinions are mixed in whether actually giving birth in the tub is safe.

Many women labor in water and get out when it’s time to push.

I pooped 4 times while pushing so definitely glad I didn’t have a water birth 🤣

I had my first in the water. I knew I wanted to birth in the water so waited till I was ready rather than use it in labour as I know it can slow labour down. No known poo. Was really amazing I just picked her up and pulled her up. Labour and motherhood Is generally full of gross anyway

I'm hoping to have a water birth. I don't think it is gross at all. All natural. If there is any concerns with the water, im sure you'll be asked to go onto the bed x

I had water birth and thought it was amazing. I gave birth in the pool too! I saw a few comments saying doctors dont allow you to give birth in the pool but i did im from the UK

If you're really worried, you can ask for a glycerin suppository before getting in the pool then go to the toilet and empty everything out before getting in!

I would 100% recommend a water birth. For me the contractions were completely unbearable when I was on my back but in the pool I could easily get into different positions.

As previous mamas have said at that point you will honestly not care about anything apart from meeting your little one! 💞

I had a water birth and it was amazing! I would definitely recommend ☺️
I really worried about pooing in the pool haha I know they fish it out with a net😂 but still made me nervous, but when I was giving birth I literally didn't think about it at all! I asked my other half a few weeks later and he says I didn't poo so I worried for nothing anyway lol
I did however lose a lot of blood during birth and the pool basically turned red, it sounds gross but I couldn't care less at the time, holding my baby boy was the only thing I was thinking about❤️

I had a water birth, which i was so against as I also didn’t like the thought of sitting in everything. I got into the bath to help with the pain and it was amazing, helped so much and gave birth in there too, I would highly recommend it, I can honestly say you don’t even take notice of what’s in the water, the baths are usually quite big so hold a large volume of water so if there is anything it just disappears really (unless if there’s a large amount of blood) and if you do poop they have a net ready 😊 don’t be put off, I was the very first one to hold my little girl and we just sat in the warm water for ages afterwards, it was very special. X

Yes I want to do a water birth but my doctor said I can only do labor in the tub and I have to go to the bed when I’m dilated. I’m so nervous I’m due on the 28th.

No it’s amazing

I didn’t have a water birth. But If this helps. I went into labor naturally & they were unable to give me an enema beforehand. But I never did poop during labor. Which I was so scared of, because normally I poop when I wake up (TMI I know). & I went into labor early in the morning (before my normal poop time) & rushed to the hospital. So I just knew my morning poop would come out with baby. But luckily, it didn’t. Lol.

I’m not even sure if the hospital I will be delivering in offers this option. Do any mom’s from the US know if this is offered in hospitals here? I feel like this is typically only done at home....

It’s interesting and it seems like it would definitely be a more relaxing birthing experience. Before I was pregnant I would have never considered it...but now I’m like hummmmmmm

The best part of my labour/birth was the pool, 100% recommend, my husband even got his swimwear on and jumped in to! Don’t worry if you poo, the midwives sort it straight away, its completely normal

I had water birth and gave birth in water. I think they only tell u to get out if there r complications with birthing

Avatar

They scoop the poop out haha and you won’t even know it’s happened! I’ve only had one birth and it was a water birth so I have nothing to compare it to but my honest opinion is it hurts like hell anyway! And because I was in the pool the only pain relief I could have was gas and air. I was so out of it just from the pain, I missed the chance to catch my baby. If I were to do it again I would consider heavier pain relief so I could be more present in the moment x

My friend had a water birth and said she pooped a LOT midwives have special tool thingies they get the poop out with and it doesn't just float there with you

Avatar

I don’t think any kind of birth can be gross. Birth is beautiful anyway you decide to do it.

First birth I ever witnessed was a water birth. Momma pooped and midwife scooped it out like it was nothing. It’s a natural thing that happens and nobody even bat an eye 💕

I had the most amazing natural water birth, I'd defo recomend it! I didnt poop but I was told that if I'd did they would get rid of it quickly and descretely. It's amazing for pain relief and it was such a lovely experience bringing my baby up out of the water myself and birthing her without the assistance of midwife (she was in the room but not hands on)

I had a water birth and it was incredible. The water was so relaxing and soothing I managed to it without any pain relief. It was honestly an Incredible experience and if like me you find a hot bath soothing for pain than it really help you!

The midwives actively clean the water so they get out any yucky stuff that might be in there and they top it up regularly with warm water. And honestly I could of been in a pool with hundreds of things floating in it and I wouldnt of noticed. Plus TMI my husband said I pooped loads 😂

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?

Induction or c section?

As a last resort, would you rather be induced or have a planned c section?

Really not liking the thought of being induced from people’s experiences I’ve read!

Almost 37 weeks + told to do another growth scan

I just had my second to last doctor’s appointment this morning, and my OB told me she wants me to do another growth scan because my belly is measuring small. She says it’s probably just because I’m a smaller woman, but they like to be safe. It’s hard to hear though, since I just did one a couple months ago.

I did this with my firstborn around this time of pregnancy, so I do think I just carry smaller (even though I don’t feel like I look “small” at all). My first baby was 6lbs 15oz when she was born at 41 weeks + 2 days. I’m having this baby at 39 weeks on April 7. I hope she’s still at least 6lbs.

Anyone have any stories similar to this?
