Birth registration

Hi, girls! Any idea how long it takes to get the birth certificate for a baby born at the end of May? Apparently the HSE is still under the cyber attack and is not processing anything 🙄

Literally just looking into this this week. It’s a joke.

I have emailed them and they said at least 5 more weeks until they look for my information, total joke

Ciara do you have the email address? I sent my stuff to the email listed on HSE website but got no acknowledgment of receipt or anything ?!

Avatar

Hey sorry for the late reply, crsupdates.dublin@hse.ie this is the email address I have emailed, I haven’t sent any information off yet as they said 5 weeks to even get back to me for the information xx

I think it took about 3 weeks for mine to come back. Was just long enough that I was thinking of ringing them

So I rang them and got a callback where I was given two additional email contacts, iv subsequently heard that they are awaiting the information from Hse but it’s in process. The other contact emails I used were gro@welfare.ie and births@welfare.ie - I copied them all then finally got a couple of responses ! Very slow indeed….b!

It’s ridiculous at this stage. So hard to try and talk to someone.

I registered my baby end of May but only got my babies PPS number after 3 weeks and a lot of calls. I was told to call back if I needed a physical birth certificate but over cyber attack it could take a while.

I assume as posted 19 days ago you got an answer but theres s big delay from the cyber attack. Hospitals weren't able to send a notification of the birth at the time. I did the online form and posted it in to registration office who then called me to let me know hospital notification wasn't done, so called hospital then to get it done and it's sorted now

Still haven't gotten the pps yet though! Got birth cert this week so could take a week or two for that

I got a letter from child benefit office with PPS about 2 weeks after the registration office confirmed he was registered. It’s all a mess 😃

C section overnight stay and a toddler

I will have an elective c section for my second baby (same as my first).

With my first, my partner stayed with me in the hospital overnight and helped me a lot with the baby so I had a pretty smooth recovery and was up and running 5 days postpartum.

Now, we need to decide if we should ask family members to come over (from abroad) and help with our toddler or we try to do the coordination/ management ourselves.

The hospital is only a 10 minute drive from our place and during the day my toddler will be at nursery (and my partner will be with me). I think I can handle 1-2 nights by myself at the hospital with the baby but I’m little concerned how would I lift the baby on day 1 given I will have a catheter. I don’t want to solely be relying on midwives. And if I fall asleep during the night, I’m also a bit worried about nobody looking after the baby.

You would think I would remember how it was the first night with my first but it’s all a blur.

What would you recommend if you had 2 c-sections and the same situation? Did you ask family to help?

Thanks!

Can someone describe contractions to me?

I’m having random pain in different parts of my belly and pelvis and I have a backache. I also had loose bowels earlier, and I feel baby girl moving super low in my pelvis. Is this early labour? My consultant OB wanted me to go to the local hospital at the first sign of labour (because I’m supposed to be delivering at a hospital farther away) but I was just there last night and basically no sign of labour. I don’t want to go for a false alarm.
Thanks!

Elective section before 39 weeks?

I've got elective section booked for 39+3, they won't do it any earlier because they don't do them before 39 weeks. They don't do them on weekends or certain days of the week apparently which is why earliest I can have is 39+3. I'm terrified of going into natural labour. Is this the same in most hospitals?

Growth

I went for a private scan 2 weeks ago but was only 5 weeks so they told me to come back in 2 weeks time, so today I went should be 7 weeks and baby is only measuring at 5 weeks 6 days. The sonographer was concern because they hadn’t grown as much as she’s liked. A heart beat was seen/ heard which is good & my sack was measuring 6 weeks 3 days.

I have to go again next week to check they have grown. Has anyone been through this and was everything okay in the end ??
