Question placenta previa

So I'm coming from my 32 week scan and my placenta is still low lying. I've been asked to go back for another check up at 36 weeks. Its lying low 1.5cm away from the cervix. Is there anyone who returned back withington these few 4 weeks and it had moved or I should just be ready for a c section😪

I had the same thing. By the time I was at 36 it had moved juuust enough for them not to have to do a c section. Because of other complications I had to do one anyways to be safe. But it is possible!

Avatar

The other complications were they related or due to the low lying placenta?

Hi. I had placenta pervia with my first son. Everything moved a couple weeks before I was due. I birthed my son naturally with an epidural. I did have some blood loss but they said it wasn't linked to the placenta pervia. Feel free to message me :)

Interesting topic they told me mine is low at 21 weeks now they will rescan me at 36 weeks which is next week. C section is ONLY considered when placenta is touching the cervix?

Avatar

Same happened with me and I ended up with a section. That was 3 weeks ago today. He was delivered at 35 + 6 due to several heavy bleeds and being admitted due to the bleeds. Sods law that mine never moved but I do think the vast majority do actually move. Feel free to message if you have any questions xx

I had placenta previa and on the 32 w scan was only 0.8 cm away from the cervix which was already a change for me because before that it was lying on the cervix so yes it moves ! Usually it’s advisable to be at at least 2 cm away so you’re very close mama ! ❤️ especially if the placenta it’s positioned towards the front with the growth of your belly should move easily

Did you do anything for it

Avatar

first time I have ever had a section so didnt really know what to expect but went well. Baby went to special care for a couple of days but I was told he probably would need to so wasnt a surprise. Recovery is going well and I am pretty much back to normal just at a slower speed and taking things easy. Well as easy as you can with a newborn and a 5 year old 😂

I had this and was told 99% of the time the placenta moves in time for birth. Which it did. Chances of c section are slim

Avatar

Interesting. I got told at my 20 week scan that mine was low laying and very close to the cervix. I was told to go for a scan at 28 weeks so they can check if it has moved up...they said the outcome would dictate my birth plan...but I'm learning from these comments that it could still move up much closer to my expected due date anyway! I'm booked in for 2 weeks time...

Mine was same at 32 and 34weeks. At 36weeks scan, the placenta was 2cm from the cervix, but the head of the baby had moved past the placenta. The team felt it was okay to deliver vaginally since the head was down. I went on to have a successful vaginal delivery. So it is possible dear.

Avatar

I had this too, they generally like to move last minute, I can't remember the exact weeks mine moved but it was really close to the end

Avatar

I got delivered c section at 36 weeks because of placenta previa. It was partial placenta previa but I had 2 bleeds at 32 weeks and 33 weeks. I was hospitalized after the second bleed and made it to the scheduled date of 36 weeks. (Doctors couldn’t believe it - they told me most women don’t make it past 34 weeks due to the bleeding. My son ended up swallowing fluid from the c section and oxygen levels were a tad bit low. He was in the Nicu for 9 days but is home and healthy now

I have a scan on Tuesday to check my Placenta as it was lying low too. I had a c section with my first child due to heart rate but the recovery was fine. I would love a natural birth, but if its not to be then I'm ok with that too.

I had placenta previa with my daughter (it's her 1st bday today!) I had to get ultrasounds done pretty much every week at the end. It ended up moving just enough where they felt it would be safe for me to deliver naturally. Which I did, no meds or anything.. not by choice she just wanted to come out too fast😂 after I delivered I had blood clots that weren't passing and the Dr had to manually extract them🥴 but other than that, it was pretty uneventful. Good luck mama!!!

Avatar

I was the same and then by the time I got to my 36 week scan it had moved, ended up with a planned c-section anyway for other reasons, try not to worry

Avatar

Mine was low and only cause I got my 2nd ultrasound done hours before birth I could've never got anything done not even the anatomy umbilical cord popped after birth

Avatar

Mine was the same as yours 1.5cm all through pregnancy.
I was actually looking forward to meeting my baby a t37 weeks through c section but when i went for an internal exam at 36 weeks the placenta had moved to 3.5cm and keeps moving up and up 😖🤪.

I have placenta previa since the first day I found out I was pregnant and I’m now going to be 35 weeks and still the same

Avatar

You will feel thr baby move more

Avatar

I had one early on in my pregnancy with my daughter, i was put on pelvic rest and by my next check up it was normal. When i hit 38+6 my placenta ruptured and broke into about 16 pieces.

Avatar

I don't think my response worked so just in case, I say it again. My placenta moved between the 32nd and 37th week. My low lying placenta was on the cervix and the doctors thought it would not moved but it did. Also, they said, 32 weeks is too early as usually it moved after that

Avatar

Be ready for a c section ... they will not risk you bleeding out or hurting the baby. Especially w the placenta being low I had the same exact thing I was wishing n praying for it to move ... they might say u can try to push but ull just might have emergency c section but on the safe side c section it's scary I had one w my daughter three months ago ... but once it's over .. you'll be relieved you'll be fine n so will the baby. Good luck

Avatar

I had placenta previa as soon as I found out.... high risk just alot

Avatar

At 22 weeks mine was 1.9 cm and it actually moved the wrong way to 0.8 now at 26 weeks 😭 ig stay hopeful but this far along I would be prepared for a c-section just in case.

Avatar

i had placenta parvia with my 1st born.. it was scanned at 20 week and doesnt moved a bit until 32 week and my doctor told me to prepare for c-section.. and so me and my husband decided to go with the c section..

Avatar

My placenta was low laying and ended up moving. I however still ended up with having a c-section for other reasons. I can just say keep an open mind things don't always go as planned but aren't always the wrong

Avatar

I had it too,I was going to be a section anyway, but I would expect they will do a section, it depends on lots of factors, age ,no of pregnacies, no of sections, weight, etc

Avatar

Mine didnt move at all. It was 1 cm over my cervix so they did a c section at 36 weeks.

Avatar

I had been told I would have to have a C-section right up until the last appointment before going into labor with my son and it had moved just enough for natural labor.

Avatar

I had a low lying placenta at 32 weeks and it moved at 36 weeks. I was able to have a normal vaginal delivery with no problems! Good luck!!

Avatar

Be ready for a c section, I don’t feel like it moves much or enough where a doctor would feel comfortable. You have to understand you are a high risk for bleeding with previa. I had a complete previa, c section and still bled during the surgery. So always remember the goal is healthy mom healthy baby

Do active babies in the womb become active newborns?

I had my 40 week ultrasound yesterday (on my due date) and the doctor mentioned how active my baby is. Curious as to your experiences regarding if your baby was active in the womb, are they likely to be active when they’re newborn? 😊

Early Labour?

I’m 34 weeks today, since 3am I’ve been having irregular cramping which becomes quite intense and has caused me to vomit. I’ve also had diarrhoea. Could I be in early labour or could I just have a bad stomach? I feel generally well in myself

28wk5days growth scan📈

I’ve just been to my first growth scan as my bump was measuring small, for the lady to say that baby should be between 2pound 2ounces - 2pound 5ounces and my baby is measuring 2pound 15ounces which is above average, any one else has similar measurements?x
