So i was having some breakfast with LO this morning, he had porridge with banana and i had some toast topped with honey and banana. I let him try a slice and he absolutely DEVOURED it! I started reading up on honey again whilst he napped and ive freaked myself right out. They say no honey before the age of 1, however a lot of the advice mentions to avoid it entirely until 2, due to the risk of infant botulism🙈
Anyone else offered there LO's a try yet?

I’ve given my lg honey. She was just over a year. She normally has it with porridge! I work in a nursery and we’ve also said honey after 1.

I gave it recently to my little boy whos just turned 1, from what I've looked at they say age 2 due to it being incredibly sweet rather than due to botulism x

Thanks for the replies ladies. Thats good to hear ! thats exactly what i was going to do, try it in his porridge or wheetabix! not much, just for taste really. 😊 xx

Hey, yes I put it in his porridge

• Chopped garlic in oil
• Canned cheese sauce
• Canned tomatoes
• Carrot juice
• Baked potatoes wrapped in foil
You can catch it from these too 🥺
Something else to freak us out…
Most infant botulism cases cannot be prevented because the bacteria that causes the disease is in soil and dust. The bacteria can be found inside homes on floors, carpet, and countertops—even after cleaning. For almost all children and adults who are healthy, ingesting botulism spores is not dangerous and will not cause botulism (it’s the toxin that is dangerous). For reasons we do not understand, some infants get botulism when the spores get into their digestive tracts, grow, and produce the toxin.

Yes! My little girl has some honey and mustard chicked. I read after one it’s fine’. X
