Bother with Prep Machine??

Hi, my baby gets fed bottled breast milk during the day then will have two bottles of formula milk using tommee tippee prep machine. She's suffering from bad colic and someone mentioned the prep machine is really bad for giving babies trapped wind due to the foam / air bubbles that sit on top of the milk. Has anyone experienced this? Has anyone stopped using the prep machine and found their baby had less trapped wind? Xx

We combi feed formula and expressed breast milk 50/50. I personally didn’t find any difference pre and post prep machine. My baby has always suffered a bit from wind so we use infacol before every feed and it seems to do the trick. I’d definitely invest in one - even if you only do 2 bottles of formula it will save you so much time!

We had the same issue with my little boy ( who is now 12 weeks old) and although the prep machine is a huge help, we also noticed the foam/ air bubbles in the milk so we were advised to stir the milk instead of using the prep machine lid to shake it and we have noticed it’s far less foamy. Which seemed to help a little. So we keep a teaspoon and little dish aside, purely to stir his milk each day. I hope that helps

My baby has terrible reflux and trapped wind issues haha. He’s on a comfort milk but I honestly don’t notice a difference between me using a kettle & waiting for it to cool, the nuby rapid cool or the prep machine. The prep machine is just waayyy more convenient & makes feeding so much easier xx

My little one was suffering badly with Colic so HV advised to stop using the prep machine to see if it’ll make a difference as that’s the first thing they advise you to do so we stopped using it and noticed a difference right away. I tried to reintroduce it the other week but after having a bottle with the prep machine he was screaming afterwards and struggling to bring wind up.
We were making bottles with the kettle at the start but then bought a Nuby rapid cool.

We use a prep machine and our little one is fine. She has reflux and wind issues but once we changed her formula she was like a new baby. Not sure what bottles you're using but we have found that using anti-colic bottles has worked a treat! In all fairness she had reflux issues before we started using the prep machine so I can't say whether it's better or worse to use it.

My top tip is to swirl the milk around the bottle and not shake it. That why there is a lot less bubbles and air. Xx

Absolutely no difference for our little girl, whether we make the bottle with the prep machine or the old fashioned way! X

we had similar issues with my little boy and have almost been using the anti-colic bottles. It seems to slow things down a little bit as my little one is a bit of a guzzler!!

I also do a combination of the prep machine and bottles made from the kettle xx

They say the machines add to much air to the milk. Try the old School way and see if it helps. You can get a nuby rapidcool to call milk down fast. I’ve been looking into machines and rapidcools ect. For if and when my milk runs out. Seem a lot of people are moving away from prep kettles and machines. And they arnt recommended by the NHS.

My boyfriend booked a trip for us to go to mexico for a week as my push present. I have severe anxiety leaving my 7 month old with my mom. I know she will be in good hands but she’s exclusively breast fed for the most part but accepts bottles just fine. i have all my pumping parts packed and will pump when baby normally eats but i don’t want baby to forget me or have latch issues when i return!! any mommas ever experience this?

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.

When does it get better?

I was crying on the phone with the perinatal mental health team today and the lovely lady, bless her, kept assuring me that it gets better. I kept telling her I hope so because people have been saying that since having my LO and it just feels like it keeps getting worse. She assured me it gets better....

Crawling

Did anyone’s little one start crawling yet? I feel like we are falling behind but really have no idea. I’m trying to introduce more floor time but it’s been rough because of having hardwood floors and our 80 lb oblivious to life dog. I got us a carpet for the living room and trying to put the dog out more when the weather allows. She sits like a pro and will roll to get the things she needs😅 but no real signs of crawling yet.

I bloody hate reflux!

How much milk would you say this is?( after a 6oz bottle) My 3 month old is bunged up, full of yet another cold and it's made her reflux worse.

She's already on gaviscon but that's the most shes ever spat up in one go. She's also been teething for the last few weeks too 🙄
