pumping fridge hack

hey moms!! this is for the moms who use the “fridge hack” to store your breast pump while not in use. just recently there has been an infant death that was linked to the bacteria. when using the fridge hack it doesn’t stop bacteria from growing it just slows it down. this bacteria can be fatal to babies. it is recommended that pump parts are washed after every use and not stored in the fridge since every time we take them out and use them our bodies warm them up and then they are put back in the fridge and them taken out and warmed up again. this is not safe and i wanted to just let those who might not know this information because i definitely won’t be using this hack anymore!! i would rather wash parts after every use then have to see my baby sick or even have to live without her. stay safe!

washed after every used and sterilized every 12-24 hours!

Thanks so much for sharing this, I hadn’t seen this announcement from the CDC myself and my lactation consultant definitely told us to use this hack and we have been…one more thing to worry about 😟

@Cat my little one is 2 months old sunday and i exclusively pump and have been using this hack since birth. it’s handy but not worth it!!!

I've been doing this for about 2 months now and my jaw just dropped definitely not worth it

Thank you for sharing this. I’m currently pumping using my parts from the fridge 😭 I have 2 part sets though so I really don’t need the fridge hack, def recommend getting a second set! They’re on Amazon and not very expensive, at least for the medela

Thank you so much Jenna for sharing this info. I breastfeed and pump both and i have been using this hack for past month. I WON’T anymore !!

Thank you so much for sharing! My little guy is 6 weeks and I’ve been using this hack the last 2 weeks or so, I had no idea 🫠

I don’t wash every use, I got sick and tired of doing that every 3 hours especially at night so I rinse 3 separate parts (bottles, breast shields and the connectors) and sterilize them after every use instead. That way any bacteria dies.

@Mila good idea!
