1/2 cm Dilated at 21 weeks

I need some personal experience stories because I feel so lost right now. This week has been an emotional rollercoaster I went in to Have my anatomy scan last Monday baby is doing amazing he is growing and moving like crazy but they found I have a short cervix I was measuring at 21mm with normal being 25mm they started me on progesterone once a day. I was feeling cramping and pressure in my lower back with this being my first pregnancy and not knowing what to look for I don’t know what is normal second trimester aches and pains and what is not normal especially being on the medication that has side effects of cramping. so I went into the emergency room where they found that I was half a centimeter dilated but no contractions. I had my normal office visit scheduled the next day so I opted to go home for the night and go to my appointment in the morning at my appointment they checked my dilation again no change from the night before. They started talking to me about different options and of course everything sounds so scary this early in pregnancy my doctor told me that they were going to refer me to the high-risk department and that I should wait for a phone call from them. I am just at a loss right now I know everybody’s pregnancy is different but just to hear from somebody with a similar experience that’s further along in this process would put my mind at ease. They same this is a time sensitive thing but I feel like no one it treating it with urgency. I want to add that the cramping has subsided for the last two days if that means anything

Get a cerclage immediately, don’t wait! If you dilate past 1 cm they won’t be able to do it and you have a very high chance of losing the baby at this time. When I was 5 months pregnant with my now almost 16 year old, I dilated 1 cm. An emergency cerclage was placed and it saved my child’s life. I urge you to not wait, and surprised your doctors didn’t immediately act on it. With dilating you shouldn’t be on your feet, lifting anything heavy, straining, all of that…

I had this same thing happen at 21 weeks, I am on progesterone and see high risk weekly and I was having contractions I’m now 24 weeks and there has been no change I’m having twins… the only thing is they couldn’t do the cerlage for me because when they checked me at 22 weeks there still was no change and at 23 weeks they will not do the stitch .. I’m on bed rest and pelvic rest. Make sure you stay hydrated and call your dr anytime you think something is wrong or go to hospital. I’m here for you but I will say I am still having contractions weeks later and have been in hospital 3/4 times since finding out. Some drs consider 23 weeks okay to deliver and some consider 24 weeks. Stay well rested and do your medicine like your suppose to! I’m here for you if you have any questions or want to talk it is very scary and I’m here with you.

I have similar stories like you girls . My water broke one week ago at 20 and 5 days . I had no idea what was going on . I will meet with high risk this Friday for a more profound anatomy scan. Baby is breeched doesn’t want to get out which is what we all want . It’s not good for them to come out this early . Cervix is long and no contractions. I’m told to drink a gallon of water a day and not to move just lots of bedrest . We got this girls . We will make it and have our bundle of joy . 🙏

I agree with going for the cerclage! I wasn't able to get one and every day is super nerve wracking... currently 24 weeks.

I’m currently in the hospital with an component cervix. The only thing that is keeping me pregnant is a cerclage. Don’t wait, demand that they give you the stitch! I’m 24weeks now and will be here until I’m 28 weeks. I’m just praying that me and baby can hang on.

I'm 21w pregnant with twins and recently started taking progesterone for a short cervix. I haven't had any labor symptoms, but my cervix is now less than 2cm. I was already seeing a high risk specialist every 2 weeks, and now going every week. I am conflicted on cerclage because the research itself is conflicting for twins. My specialist will do it until 24 weeks, so I'm holding off and hoping my cervix stays put until then 🙏. It just seems less risky overall in my situation.

But I've read a lot and it seems really clear that cerclage will help with a singleton!

I'm really thankful you posted this, because I've been losing my mind all week. Wishing the best for all of us in this thread. 💞

Thank you all for sharing your stories I appreciate it more then you will ever know. Everything about this situation is absolutely terrifying and I’m praying for every single one of us going threw this. I’m scheduled for a follow up ultrasound on Wednesday along with a follow up appointment with my normal OB on the 26th to check and see if anything has changed and find out when I can see the high risk doctor. I will definitely keep you guys posted. Please don’t hesitate to message me at anytime if you guys need to talk. 💕

Visitors after C-Section

I’ve firmly expressed I don’t want visitors when we’re in the hospital and likely not for a while when home. I want us to be able to adjust but also for me to start to recover, I’ve got a condition that causes seizures and poor wound healing so anticipating it could potentially be difficult at first.

I don’t want to be unfair to people, but I know it’s going to be detrimental mentally for me to have people. I’ve been pushed on specifics on how long and said “we’ll say 2 weeks for now including the hospital and then let people know.” I can tell that my mom is not happy in the slightest and there’s been a few comments.

What do others recommend? Is it better to just grit your teeth and get people over to keep the peace? Is it wrong to want the space?

No bleeding after c section

9 days post op and I’ve not been bleeding at all.. I only bled some clots for the first 24-48 hours but nothing after that. Midwives are advising this is normal, has anyone else experienced no bleeding after c section?

Vbac hope!

I had an emergency c-section and like most it just was the complete opposite of everything I had hoped my birthing experience would be like. I’d really to try for VBAC next time but absolutely petrified of uterine rupture… anyone else the same?

Are your birthdays acknowledged?

tell me if this is odd ? Me and Fiance been together for 8 years his mom had never wished me happy birthday despite if I’ve acknowledged hers. He confronted her abt this and she claims “ I’m not dating her so I don’t have to know it” . I’m not trying to dramatic but we’re getting married this year and I had her first grand child. She states she knows the month but not the day which is fine but any little acknowledgment would be nice . So I want to know do your in laws celebrate your birthday?
