38 weeks tomorrow with an 8 lb 11oz baby….induction or no?

Tomorrow I’ll be 38 weeks and my ultrasound today showed an 8 lb 11 oz baby.

It’s my first and I haven’t really been showing any labor signs as of yet. I really don’t want to have a c-section and my doctor recommended considering scheduling an induction at my appointment next week.

What would you do? I was hoping to go into labor naturally…so I wasn’t quite prepared to think about inducing.

Has your baby been measuring large your whole pregnancy? The issue with ultrasounds is they are often not very good at predicting size of baby and can be off by a pound in either direction. Personally, I don’t think inductions are bad at all and am actually looking forward to mine and having the day planned and everything but it’s definitely a personal choice/ all about what you are comfortable with

I feel you. I was told my baby was 8lb 1oz at my 37 week scan…. I’m optioning for a scheduled c section because I want her out at 39 weeks and I’d rather a controlled situation than inducing labor and god forbid still having an emergency c section after all that… but I completely get that I’m in the minority (c section versus natural birth preference). One thing to be grateful for: I was told by my OB that bigger babies are (generally) healthier babies! They latch better, they sleep better, they adjust out of the womb better. So while the actual birth part is terrifying, we will have very healthy, very adaptable babies! 💜

The weight estimate is usually wrong.

Weight estimates are rarely accurate. Your body can handle your baby. Also, inductions tend to increase the chances of addition interventions. I'd honestly say, your baby will know when it's time. Let them do their thing until they're ready.

he’s measured big the whole time. I had some complications pre pregnancy that didn’t allow us to use the LMP in order to date him, so it’s quite possible I’m at 40 weeks and we just don’t know it

They kept telling me I would have a big baby. He was 6 lbs. 12 oz. I was induced. I was 39 and three. So yes their measurements aren’t exactly accurate or even close sometimes because I do not consider 6 lbs. 12 oz. large by any means.

what was the estimated weight? And indeed, like you say, 6 pounds and 12 oz is not large at all

Going incognito mostly because I am actually embarrassed 😂
I need to start being more active, I used to be so on the go but now I have zero motivation and no energy.
I have type 2 diabetes and I am trying to reverse it before it gets worse, my diet and exercise is horrendous as I just go for quick and easy, I do need to start really prepping food, I have tried calorie counting but end up getting stressed and just giving up and exercise wise I need someone to give me a push and hold me accountable in doing it but my partner is not the best with helping with things like this as he eats like a child and is physically active in work so when he gets home he doesn’t want to work out.
I need help, I was recently told my cholesterol and stuff are high and my diabetes has gone worse since having the baby and having a lot of meds stopped.

What are you looking forward to?

Ladies, what are you looking forward to doing when you don’t have a bump anymore?

Mine is being able to sleep on my stomach! I’ve never been a side sleeper so I can’t say I’ve had a good nights sleep since my second trimester🫠

I feel so bad 🥹

So I’m 27 weeks and I really don’t have much cravings but lately I’ve been wanting pork and beef. I have not ate both in over 8 years and yesterday I had bacon. I feel like I want to cry because now I want a pepperoni pizza 😭

What to do when water breaks?

So I was told when my water breaks wait at home till my contractions become regular, so try and prevent intervention (because I don’t want intervention, and midwife told me, once you go in with waters broken, you’re on their clock, which means if baby doesn’t come within a certain time they will try induce me ect)

What has anyone else done once their waters broke?

Advice!

I was sent for a growth scan as my bump was under the 50th centile…been told she’s on the 23rd now after scan. She’s also “frank breech” has anyone else had a wee one on the smaller side and they have moved? I’ve to get 2 more growth scans and hopefully she’s moved or it will be a section! Another thing I’m dreading 🫣 my first was a svd and I was hoping for the same but I’m so nervous now incase of a c section
