That happened to my friend, she had a baby shower for a girl and everything and they ended up having a boy.

Avatar

This is why I asked for a NIPT blood test..I wanted to know ASAP and didn’t want any surprises later

Avatar

No way! Do you have your 16 week scan?

Avatar

Yeah literally going through it now, was told I’m having a baby girl but he’s actually a boy 🥲

Avatar

yeah, at 16 weeks was told a baby girl and at the 20 week scan he was very clearly a boy😂

Avatar

it’s like grieving a baby girl that was never actually there x

Avatar

Omg Lool I actually have this huge feeling it’s guna happen to me 🤣

Avatar

omg it really is!! I felt bad for saying it but I’ve bought so much stuff already very hastily and now having to sell/give them away cos they’re pink 🥲 it’s so strange

Avatar

After half hour gender scan, I wasn't confident in their answer so am waiting for 20 week scan to confirm!! 😬🙃

Avatar

Oh no I’m dreading this happening because I’ve bought so much pink🙈 did the potty shot look like a girl? Xx

Avatar

mine did at my gender scan, saw 3 lines and everything

Avatar

well he had his legs crossed and uncrossed them for a second and it did look like a girl but they caught the gender literally in a second of him recrossing his legs.. x

Avatar

Happened to my brother and SIL. They were expecting a baby boy but 8 weeks before baby was due they found out they were actually having a girl.

And someone I knew from high school thought they were having a girl and when she delivered they actually had a boy. 🙈

Avatar

Happened to a family friend! They were told boy the whole pregnancy. Had all boy clothes, bedroom was painted blue name was picked out. When she was in the hospital getting ready to have the baby they did a scan is showed girl and when baby was born it was a girl. Lots of panicking trying to exchange things for her so she could come home with things for a girl. Luckily alot of it was gender neutral.

Avatar

Wow, even modern technologies can be wrong thats what we are humans are like, we make mistakes,as long as baby is healthy thats what matters. That is another reason I don't wanna know what I'm having gonna have surprise and no expectations😁

Avatar

I was that baby 😂

Avatar

I’ve had to have extra scans due to being high risk and I ask them to check baby’s gender every time bcos of this! Baby must of been hiding his Willy for you hahaha! Congratulations 💙💙💙

Avatar

My friend was told her whole pregnancy she was having a girl… when she delivered it was a boy

Avatar

I’m worried about this, baby has never cooperated with scans and the lady said “I’m fairly confident I’ve got the gender” but I never seen anything I’ve got a lot of pink stuff already and we’ve chose her name and everything just over a week until my 20 week scan xx

Avatar

Yes exactly the same. Told at 16 weeks it was a girl and then at 20 weeks a boy 🙈

Avatar

Mine was the other way round. At 17 weeks I was told mine was a boy and now she is a 10month old girl. I did get told at my 20 week scan she was a girl so I contacted the private clinic and they rescanned me free of charge and confirmed she was a girl x

Avatar

Worried about this! Told a girl at 16 and 20 weeks is 26th June😭

Avatar

Has anyone heard of this happening with a blood test? The blood test said boy for me but I’m wondering if that ever fails?

Avatar

Cute Batman outfit 😅🥹

Avatar

I have my 20 week scan tomorow and I’m dreading them saying she’s the opposite gender lmao xxx

Avatar

I was told 16 weeks was still too early. 20 weeks is the sweet spot

Avatar

That’s crazy!! Ladies were your 16w scan private or NHS?

Avatar

it was private, didn’t even get my growth scan with NHS

Avatar

both 16 & 20 were with NHS 😂🙈

Avatar

oh my god!!! Now I’m worried 😧😂

Avatar

was it the same place? After 3 lines you’d think it’s girl for sure..

Avatar

I got it done at a private ultrasound place, it was far too early tbf I was only 15 weeks but their minimum was 14 but yeah 3 lines I 100% saw it, then I got my 20 week one where I’m giving birth and his testicles were blatant there was no way around it lmao 😭😭 I go for a rescan in a few weeks to check his heart and they’ll double check gender again, but yeah. All a big headache xx

Avatar

wow yeah true! This causes so much confusion becz you want to start associating your thoughts and connect with the baby. Good luck with next scan but if you clearly saw testes then there is no mistaking it’s a boy ☀️☀️

Avatar

we ended up going for a private scan after the 20 week to try and get some sort of definite answer 😂 the NHS don’t care about gender so they’re didn’t put loads of effort into trying to find out. The private scan lady spent a lot of time looking at investigating from different angles and we saw his little bits, so we’re pretty sure now lol

Avatar

I absolutely agree. On my NHS scan, she literally spent 30 seconds looking for gender and said it’s a girl, although we did see 3 lines. Great that you went private and confirmed x

Avatar

This happened to my friend. She paid for a private scan at 16 weeks and was told it was a girl, had a gender reveal to then be told at her 20 week scan it was a boy 🙈
I still have dreams its gonna happen to me and I’m nearly 34 weeks 😂 xx

Avatar

I’m a midwife and the last baby I delivered before I had my own baby was a little girl….or so everyone thought until dad cut the cord and actually looked 😬 I bought loads of neutral stuff because I was paranoid our gender scan would be wrong (it wasn’t)

Avatar

With my son we had a 20 weeks scan when they said it was a girl )) then scan at 32 weeks (different country, so different schedule for scans) when they said it was a boy )) 36 weeks confirmed, delivery, too 🤣
So this time we’re ‘again’ expecting a girl, according to the 20 weeks scan. Though we’re definitely going to check again later on 🫣 privately

Avatar

I did the chromosome test (at 16 weeks too) and it came out saying that it was a boy. But when I was 22 weeks pregnant I did a ultrasound and the doctor said it was a girl ( for the joy of my husband). Now we havia a sweet little baby girl 😍

Avatar

Yuuup had a private scan and told they’re a boy. Went to 20w scan and told a girl! Whined to the private place who reviewed and confirmed a girl! Congrats though and hope you’re okay! It takes some getting your head around! X

Avatar

private scan like an ultrasound? Omg your scaring me! I found out at 13 weeks but it looked clear it was a boy!

Avatar

Yea I know two people that baby was BORN the opposite gender from what they said during the scans

Avatar

yup private ultrasound! Honestly I’d just wait till the 20w scan to double check before going crazy buying stuff as I ended up giving away a load of boy stuff😂

Avatar

Imagine them getting it wrong up until birth. That’s what happened to my mom. Her whole pregnancy she was told my little brother was a girl until he came out. He literally didn’t have a name for like three days bc we had planned everything for a girl

Avatar

Mine was the complete opposite! Was told girl and then found out boy. Have another scan next week!

Avatar

This is why I'm not finding out the gender until birth to stop any disappointment personally I don't care but it's others disappointment.

Avatar

No. My sil sister is a nurse and said that has happened in the past but are surprised at birth. I had to do a blood one. It's a girl but I have 2 boys lol those have been all correct. I was convinced she was a boy. Usually 20 week is the best answer. At my 15 week they said too early to tell and asked if I did a blood test. 🤣
Best of luck. Boys are so fun! Seriously

Avatar

I haven’t but someone I work with had it done twice and they didn’t find out until the birth. They were told they were both boys and they turned out to both be girls.

Avatar

Yup I was told I was having a boy had boy themed baby shower and everything hospital bag was packed with boy stuff got to the delivery pushed my baby out and they say congratulations on your beautiful baby girl I thought they were playing with me but they wasn’t my mom had to go to store to get her a girl outfit to come home in kmsl she’ll be 21 Christmas Eve 🥰🥰🥰😂😂😂😂

Avatar

One of my coworkers was told she was having a boy the whole way through, so when she gave birth and it was a girl it was a wee bit of a shock

Unexpected c -section

I labored for weeks, went into active labor for 20 hours, pushed for 3 hours and failed to have a vaginal birth. They said my pelvis was too small for her big head. I personally think I wasn’t dilated enough and they wanted to rush me. Our bodies are made for birth. If you can afford a doula get one, and spend the last few weeks stretching, drinking okra water, and having sex!

I didn’t feel anything while in surgery, and my scar is really small. Healing the first couple weeks was brutal, but you get through it. Ask for help! Prepare meals, order meals, or have someone cook for you. It’s been 3 months and the scar is hardly noticeable! Baby is healthy, and happy❤️ that’s all that matters!

On the final stretch.. How we feeling ladies?

Not long left to go for our May babies ladies!!! I’m 35 weeks now and I’m honestly so over being pregnant at this point everything hurts, I’m restless and always uncomfortable and quite frankly just not enjoying these last few weeks at alllllll! Baby girl has been head down since 32 weeks and always pressing on my bladder so the constant peeing is another added extra and don’t even get me started on the lightning crotch!!!

How is everyone else feeling?

(Cheeky little bump update) people keep saying it looks like my bump has dropped but I really don’t see or feel like it has at all so not sure what others are seeing 🤷🏽‍♀️

C section overnight stay and a toddler

I will have an elective c section for my second baby (same as my first).

With my first, my partner stayed with me in the hospital overnight and helped me a lot with the baby so I had a pretty smooth recovery and was up and running 5 days postpartum.

Now, we need to decide if we should ask family members to come over (from abroad) and help with our toddler or we try to do the coordination/ management ourselves.

The hospital is only a 10 minute drive from our place and during the day my toddler will be at nursery (and my partner will be with me). I think I can handle 1-2 nights by myself at the hospital with the baby but I’m little concerned how would I lift the baby on day 1 given I will have a catheter. I don’t want to solely be relying on midwives. And if I fall asleep during the night, I’m also a bit worried about nobody looking after the baby.

You would think I would remember how it was the first night with my first but it’s all a blur.

What would you recommend if you had 2 c-sections and the same situation? Did you ask family to help?

Thanks!

Scan at 40+ weeks, anyone had a later scan?

Hi guys, I’ve got a scan booked in with the NHS to ensure my placenta is working well and baby is okay. For a bit of a back story, on Monday early hours I went to triage as baby wasn’t moving too much. They monitored me, all was well with his movements and heart beat in the end, but ended up seeing a doctor as she wanted to talk about inducing me. I said no to induction, however agreed to a sweep (I think I’ve lost my mucus plug and have been having slight contractions, but nothing major), so have another sweep booked at 41 weeks and induction booked for 41+1 weeks. Has anyone been in a similar situation and had a scan later in pregnancy due to similar circumstances? I’m kinda nervous for this scan out of all the ones I have had previous. I am considered low risk and have been throughout the pregnancy x
