Thank you @Natalie That is a shame but good to know. Was it a positive experience in the shared ward?
They didn't have them available to book when I was at PRUH in September. They said they were keeping them open and available for those with covid or those who had complications. I ended up in one anyway after suffering a haemorrhage and being kept in there for longer than usual for extra tests. My baby was also subjected to more tests following a testing delivery. The private room meant I could actually relax and try and recuperate.
Apparently they do have them in Lewisham!
Most of NHS hospitals are keeping their privet rooms for covid or patients with complications to make things easier for the staff. But they might let you stay in Labour word a bit longer if there isn't to many other women waiting to use the room. I was in my labour room for at least 3hours after birth and that was during covid. My SIL is due in a few weeks and her midwife just told her that if there's no complications with her birth she will be discharged with in 6hours so they don't want to keep you in in the hospital for longer then they have to
I gave birth there 6 weeks ago and unfortunately there aren’t any bookable private rooms at PRUH. Apparently they no longer do it as they keep them for if people are giving birth with covid.
