Growth scan at 34 weeks

Hi, I went to the midwife yesterday and have been referred for an urgent growth scan as baby has dropped from the 90th to 40th percentile over the last three measurements. Has anyone experienced this? So stressful šŸ˜”

I wouldn’t worry, fundal height isn’t accurate at all 😊 so many things influence it

Hey, if you mean the bump measurement percentile I wouldn’t worry too much about it, it’s not a very accurate measurement, I went from 90th to 50th on those measurements and had a scan and everything was fine ā˜ŗļø

Agreed, don’t worry about it - I was sent for a growth scan at around 32 weeks because my bump hadn’t grown, everything totally normal - soo many factors influence size of bump: water retention, hydration, if you had a big lunch!, baby position… my bump goes up and down! So don’t worry, it’s just a medical formality but it’s likely baby is all ok if you feel all ok 😊

I think 40th percentile is still healthy, my little girl went from the 10th to the 3rd and was tiny - but I had preeclampsia for a while and didn’t realise so she couldn’t grow and had to be born 36 weeks 6 days gestation at 4 pounds 10oz. She’s 11 weeks old now and doing great! I think 40th percentile is the average range, and refers to a more typical size than a severe restriction. Whereas my little girl had a severe restriction as my placenta was failing massively. They will just want to get you in for a scan / Doppler to check baby and placenta and blood flow through to baby. Try not to worry too much yet. X

Hello, I’m 33 plus 4 and had the exact same on Monday at my midwife appointment. I had an urgent scan yesterday and everything was absolutely fine. It was actually really nice to see baby again. The measurements on the scan were a lot more specific compared to bump measurements and even got an approximate weight. I was also extremely stressed and anxious. We came out more reassured if anything. Hope all goes well for you. Sending lots of love as I know how scary it can be. Thinking of you x

I wouldn't worry until you've had the scan. I got sent for an urgent one. Same day appointment as from fundal they thought baby had stopped growing.

Absolutely not the case at all.

Fundal measurements are based on so many variables that it's only ever really a guide. Could well be that baby has changed position or you've eaten less even!

Fundal height isn’t all that accurate I was measuring 2 weeks ahead with my first two and they were both a little under 6 pounds. Measured perfectly with my son and he was 7.5 pounds!

My midwife don’t measure the bump. She said they don’t do it anymore as it’s not accurate.

Even the scans at the Radiology are not accurate. Our bub was tracking around 40 percentile on all scans during my pregnancy he came out on the 1%. I was told by all nurses, doctors & midwife's in the hospital the scans are not that accurate, after birth of course when it was so mis matched.
I started producing Colostrum early in pregnancy and I never expressed as bubs growth I was told was good. But when he came out I had to stay in Hospital 3 days because he was so small and they were pushing concerns of not having enough food for him. I was told to go straight to formula to get weight on but my knowing I produced Colostrum so early I knew there was no issue with supply so we persevered and he never lost his baby weight but gained unlike most babies.
Sharing my story as my only regret was not expressing Colostrum when I had the chance. Would of saved alot of concern.

I wouldnt worry too much. I only ever had two bump measurements because my bump every went above the 5th centile in those measurements. I had scans instead.

Everyone has already said it! I think the scan is just to confirm if baby is going to be big or small! So they and you can plan if needed!

Echoing what everyone else said. I was also referred at my last midwife appt for him measuring small. At the scan he's measuring fine, in fact his head is above the 90th centile šŸ˜‚ the fundal height measurements are so inaccurate. Tbh so are the growth scans. I had 2 scans 2 days a part back when I was 20w and he apparently jumped up 50 centiles in those 2 days šŸ˜‚ I'd honestly take it all with a pinch of salt haha

Just hit 26 weeks pregnant and I CANNOT stop comparing my bump to other people! It doesn’t help with hearing ā€œoh you’ve poppedā€ or ā€œwhere did that come fromā€ every bloody dayšŸ™„
What are our 26 week bumps looking like? This photo was taken today and I am 26+1

My little boy born 5th April at 18:15 weighing 6lbs 11oz. He kept it interesting by turning from breech on the day of my csection on April 1st. Started induction on his due date the 4th and he he was here within 24 hours. So happy and hope everyone else has an amazing birth experience <3

Icky or not?

To cancel my gym i need to prove that im pregnant (they want a scan photo). Now, from a company/business perspective I totally get it. However, how many women are cancelling their membership because they're pregnant? It feels icky. Like what if I had had a miscarriage before my scan - i'd have to prove that? What if I dont want to share my scan photo? I come and pee on a stick in front of you? It just feels a bit anti-woman and not well thought through

More info for cesarean

Hi everyone, 26 weeks, just had my follow up scan after finding out at 20week (done at 22w due to scheduling) that I have complete placenta Privia. My dr said it was still early and can move as baby grows however today at our second scan, he said as it hasn’t moved in 4 weeks, and he is concerned that it may not move. He started taking about c sections and the high risks associated with it, and my head just wants to explode. I have had two medically perfect unmedicated births, and now I have to have my worst fear of being cut open come to life. I am absolutely terrified of having a c section. The whole reason I’ve done unmedicated both times is because I hate hospitals, I hate hate hate needles and how not only do I have to give birth in a hospital but also have to have a cesarean, and my entire medical team is going to be changed. I’m just so heartbroken and terrified. Im not sure exactly what I’m looking for, I guess just reassuring words or advice. Thanks

When did your pregnancy sickness get better?

I’m almost 8 weeks pregnant with my second, and the sickness this time is horrific. With my first little boy I had zero sickness at all, my pregnancy was a breeze. But this time it’s taken me out, and ofc I wasn’t expecting this as my first was so easy. I am gagging every 10 minutes almost throwing up, I am exhausted and I can hardly do anything, I can hardly eat and drink, I’ve never felt so ill in all my life.
When does this subside, because the mum guilt is eating me alive as I am feeling so unwell I cant do much with my little boy

(Fyi I’ve already had an early scan and there is one healthy baby ā¤ļø)

Movements

I don't want to get paranoid like I did last pregnancy.
How movement changes towards the end? Im 37 weeks. I stopped Aspirin at 35 weeks.
I still fell her moving. Its just less intense.
Im not worried. I just want to make sure less forceful kicks are normal.
