How long did your steri strips stay on?

Hi again! I had my C section last Tuesday and am on Day 8 of recovery. They took the initial bandaging off 2 days after, but they said the steri strips would “fall off” on their own. They are still pretty stuck on and I can’t see the scar underneath or tell how it’s healing. I only see very dried blood underneath and feel (what I imagine) is a hard raised area above the scar on one side. I’m wondering how long I should expect these to last before they fall off and I can see the actual scar? Is it possible to take them off too early or, reversely, for them to stay on too long and affect the healing?

Mine did not fall off on their own and were still there when I went to my follow up with the OB somewhere around 14 days postpartum. She told me I could take them off myself - pro tip, rub Vaseline all over them before you go to sleep and then next day they will come off so easily. I think for most people they start coming off around 10 days or so?

I went back to my OB at 2 weeks pp and they used alcohol to remove them gently. I healed very well, praise to God, so it didn't hurt or anything.

While I had the strips on, I was showering and everything. I was slightly icked because the lochia was staining the bottom half of the strips. Once they were off, my dissolvable stitches also slowly started falling off little by little. There were only the knots left. The rest probably dissolved into my skin.

7 days after my c section they had me take everything off at home myself, bandage and the strips and everything was still pretty stuck on. The only thing that loosened them up was letting water run on them in the shower while taking them off. And my scar is healing amazing at 3.5 months pp

Vaseline is such a good idea! Idk why I didn’t think about that

it was my doctor's suggestion and it worked so well! My steri strips hadn't loosened at all and I was really worried how bad it would feel to pull them off, but with the Vaseline they just slid right off!

my doctor literally gave me no instruction with it! Just straight up said you take it off at home in a week good luck lol
