I was let go from my job about a month ago and I’ve been struggling to find work that can work with my mom schedule especially being a single FTM.
It’s been difficult so I figured I start looking for remote work but I don’t even know where to look or what employers will even hire me due to my experience mainly being in the restaurant industry as a sous chef/kitchen manager.
Any advice or tips are welcomed as I’m coming to a end with all my savings I had 😭

I was laid off a year ago. I worked in mortgage loan auditing. Market declined and many lost their jobs. I bought a home in early 2022 further out in more rural area. So now I’m stuck too far to drive for in person job. I can’t find remote either. I have 4 kids, one with special needs. His therapist is here daily. So I need to be home and work. To be near in case I’m needed.

As someone that works 100% remote, it depends how you’re positioning your transferable skills. Additionally, I would research what’re the top skills majority companies are looking for and try to cultivate/learn them for free. Also, as a last point you have to pay attention to what’s going on in the industry. A lot of tech companies have let workers go and many companies are doing hybrid (in office & remote)

If your experience is in the restaurant industry, you can likely use it to get a customer service job. Wahjobqueen.com might be a good place to start.
You can also look into building skills that could help you get remote work since there are lots of jobs that can be done remotely like marketing, project management, data science, programming, etc. There are free courses and low-cost certificate programs online that might help!
Watch out for the tons of work from home scams on here. People with legit work from home jobs don't need to tell you to inbox them and "there are still spots left." I work remotely and my company recruits on Indeed for most roles and also sometimes hires from Upwork. We don't have any openings right now, though, but I definitely recommend those sites!

I feel you. So many places are transitioning back into hybrid (which is often only 1 day from home 🤦♀️). It took me a year to find the right remote position as a paralegal. I ran my business in the meantime.
I agree with customer service positions being a good option. Get super comfortable using LinkedIn and network with recruiters as much as you can. You can search for remote positions on there. Anytime you find a job you’re interested in, try to find the hiring manager on LinkedIn and send them a personal message. That always got me in the door.

Unfortunately the issue is largely supply vs demand. A lot of people got used to working from home during the height of Covid. Now that most jobs are back to being in office, the demand for remote work is much higher than the actual availability of remote jobs.

just as you mention the scammers I see one in my comments lol

could you let me know about this work here via the comments

😆 They're relentless. I don't know how the app doesn't have these people and their "few more spots available" and their "3 grands a week" blocked yet. I report them constantly. 😩
