PGP / GTPS - any tips on how to get through the pain?!

I’m 23 weeks with my second child, and the pain is almost unbareable already 😭 this last week I’ve barely been able to walk, or put any weight on my left leg. I feel like I’m crumbling apart, and every step feels like a drill going through my hip; even sat down my leg and hip throbs in pain.

I have a history of back problems, and have been seeing an NHS pyhsio since about 16 weeks due to having trapped nerves in my upper back from the birth of my first child - and honestly she has been great… but I feel like I am just getting worse and worse when it comes to my hip/pelvis.

I do the exercises she gave me when I can, I see her every 2 weeks, we are even going to start trying hydrotherapy to help me…. But nothing is so far… I’m now having to cut back my hours at work, because I need to be able to be on my feet all day; and I’ve got a 1 year old toddler to look after too.

She’s diagnosed me with PGP and GTPS (greater trochanteric pain syndrome), and I have pre-existing nerve damage in my lower back to left leg; but it was never this bad with my first pregnancy…

Does anyone have any tips on dealing with the pain / coping enough to look after a toddler? :( or how to cope so I can carry on working so I can pay my bills? Any advice welcome.

Did they mention a support belt to you at all ? It may not be suitable but I'm going to give one of those a try to help with some of my symptoms. I really do feel for you as it sounds absolutely horrible. I'm going to try some of the exercises soon that the physio has now given me as well to see if it will help. But I'm worried about getting heavier and the pain getting worse than it is ! Sending you a big hug you've got this x

Sorry you’re in so much pain! I’ve not had pain as bad as you but have had mild PGP, I’m 26 weeks. I got a maternity belt from BabyGo which helps when I’m walking / going down the stairs as it helps to stabilise your pelvis. Have you seen your GP about it getting worse recently?

Thank you both. I have a maternity belt, but I haven’t tried it yet so thank you I will give it a try! Just had an emergency appointment with my physio/dr and they are going to try and find me some stronger painkillers I can have, and they are going to issue me with crutches on Monday :( how I’m going to manage those I have no idea, but we will see. X

Changed due date

Anyone had their date change at 12 weeks scan?

I used my last period and also fully tracked ovulation, I had a due date Oct 10.

In my 12 week scan they said Oct 15

Now I don’t know which to use as I know the 12 week scan can place things wrong due to the tiniest millimetre off measurement

What did others go by and what was accurate?

Second baby here!

Damp pants.. can your waters go incredibly slowly lol

Or did I pee 😅

I woke up this morning with a damp patch in my undies that I noticed when I pulled my pants up after a wee.. I did smell it and it doesn’t smell like wee and I got my husband to smell (lol) and it didn’t smell like wee to him either but I’m also very hydrated...

I have sat over the toilet and nothing is dripping out of me so I think maybe I just lost a bit of wee over night or just before I noticed?

Birthday

So idk if this would be considered bd drama, but he just texted me “happy birthday” my birthday isn’t until April 20th, we’ve known each other since 2024. And I just feel a little sad that he doesn’t know my birthday. Should I appreciate that he tried? Or be upset that after all this time he still doesn’t know my birthday?

Sleep

Does anyone else lay awake all night unable to sleep due to hormones or overthinking? Gosh it’s so annoying!
Please tell me I’m not alone.

Elective C-section

Guys I'm 13 weeks but I'm already extremely terrified of birth and specially tearing and injuries down there. I'm thinking I'd rather suffer the pain from the c section than going through natural labour. I like the thought of everything being planned and I'd know what's going on. Any of you in a similar situation?

I’m having my baby tomorrow

I have just found out that I am going to be induced tomorrow. After a rough pregnancy this is the best decision for us I will be 39 weeks and 5 days. Anyone got any tips or advice to make the process smoother.
